The Supervising Director will collaborate with show leadership under the guidance of the Supervising Producer. They will act as a support to the Supervising Producer for all aspects of storyboards and animatics. Additionally, they will manage the Partner Studio(s) storyboard team(s) and, when requested by the Supervising Producer, the team of in-house Directors, Storyboard Artists, and Storyboard Revisionists to ensure alignment of the style, vision, and creative ambitions of the storyboards.
DreamWorks Animation Television has exciting new opportunity for a Supervising Director to join its in-house team in Glendale, CA. This position is covered by the Animation Guild. We are seeking candidates who are familiar with the animation pipeline and experienced in drawing storyboards.

Responsibilities: ''What would you say you do here?''
• Collaborate with the Supervising Producer and Directors to discuss creative ambitions for each episode
• Participate in all storyboard handouts by working with the Supervising Producer to communicate storytelling direction, design requirements, and expected level of polish to the storyboard team(s), to ensure that the Executive Producer and Supervising Producer's creative goals are met
• Review storyboards and/or animatics with Supervising Producer with the intention of maintaining quality and continuity as well as plussing the comedy
• When needed, re-board, restructure the order and/or plus the scenes and/or sequences to hit the creative vision of the show
• As needed support the Supervising Producer and/or Director with boarding and revision needs to ensure the show stays on schedule and hits creative goals
• Maintain regular communication with the Partner Studio(s) to ensure that both the direction and the feedback are clear, providing notes and drawovers when needed
• Under the guidance of the Supervising Producer, participate in in-house storyboard reviews and provide clear notes and drawovers for Directors, Storyboard Artists, and/or Storyboard Revisionists
• Working with the Supervising Producer, evaluate the continuity and quality of all storyboards and, under the direction of the Supervising Producer, punch up the comedy of the storyboards and/or animatics as needed
• Review the preliminary animatics to ensure they are ready for initial executive review
• On a regular basis, provide status updates to the Supervising Producer and production staff for troubleshooting, planning, and changes
• Weigh-in on the talent acquisition process with the Supervising Producer and Line Producer to review portfolios and tests, interview candidates, and provide detailed feedback
• Mentor and support the storyboard team(s) and cultivate positive team morale
• Be available for periodic travel to the Partner Studio(s)
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications: ''What do I need to have in order to do this job?''
Strong drawing skills with a demonstrated sense of storytelling, comedy, staging, composition, and character acting
Advanced knowledge of Storyboard Pro and Photoshop
Proven ability to meet deadlines and keep a team on schedule
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Experience leading and fostering a team
Excellent communication skills
Is a great teammate, who genuinely enjoys working with others

Desired Characteristics
Desired Qualifications: ''What can I offer?''
At least 3 years experience as an Episodic Director working in television animation
At least 5 years of experience as a Storyboard Artist working in television animation
Ideal candidates will be able to provide storyboard samples
Prior Storyboard Directing experience
Bachelor's degree preferred
