Responsibilities
Environment Modelers are depended upon to create complex models of the highest quality, including (but not limited to) sets and props in a variety of styles. Candidates will have a proven body of work emphasizing set dressing and composition and shepherding complex locations through the pipeline.
Responsibilities:
• Interpret art reference/concept art to create a wide range of models that align with the artistic design/style of film, from hard-surfaced to organic shapes
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of common design components that make aesthetically pleasing models (balance, composition, shape , rhythm, etc)
• Work well in a collaborative environment, including taking and addressing feedback from Supervisors/Production Designer
• Troubleshoot technical and creative problems, and work independently with minimal supervision, including proactively communicating with surrounding departments
• Build organized environment models following pipeline standards, such as clean topology and UVs ensuring usability by all downstream departments
• Demonstrate strategic thinking in various modeling approaches and apply tools effectively and creatively to models
• Complete all tasks within a timely manner
Qualifications/Requirements
• Design skills - good eye for silhouette, form, composition and spatial design
• Experience set dressing
• High proficiency in both hard surface and organic modeling
• Embraces iterative design changes
• Self starter, independent and problem solver
• Pipeline knowledge, understanding clean topology and efficient sets
• Knowledgeable of Pre Visualization building and maintaining Pre Visualization sets
• Experience working with Layout and cameras and getting a model ready for pipeline
• Proficient user of Maya, ZBrush
• Basic understanding of texturing, ie photoshop, substance painter
• Open to new software
Desired Characteristics
• Ability to do visual development surfacing pass
• Expert user of tools such as Houdini, Substance, Arnold
