People Inc. is looking for a Data Engineer with strong Python and SQL skills to join the team. The successful candidate will help build our data integration pipelines that feed into our data lakes and warehouses while maintaining data quality and integrity in our data stores. We are looking for someone who collaborates effectively but can also work independently. This person will also work closely with key stakeholders and understand and implement business requirements and see to it that data deliverables are met.
The Role's Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree preferred in a quantitative field, such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, data science, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
• Build highly-consumable and cost-efficient data products that synthesize data from a variety of source systems.
• Stage raw data and enrich it with business value so that downstream workflows can get consistent dimensions and metrics.
• Ingest raw data with Fivetran and Python and surface in BigQuery for the company to use.
• Design workflows that ensure reliable and consistent data creation. Repair and enhance them as needed in response to changing data or excessive costs.
• Develop Looker Views and Models to democratize access to data products.
• Partner closely with other developers on your scrum team with the support from many others across the organization.
• Keep up with new technologies and approaches to solve problems and improve existing systems.
• Work directly with Product, QA, front-end and our back-end developers in a dedicated scrum team to fully realize the product vision.
• Participate in a well-oiled 2 week agile system to continuously add new features & functionality to the business.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in building and optimizing data pipelines with Python.
• You have experience writing complex SQL queries to analyze data.
• Window functions and nested subqueries are second nature to you.
• You have commendable experience with at least one cloud service platform (GCP and AWS preferred).
• You've worked with data at scale using Apache Spark, Beam or a similar framework.
• You're familiar with data streaming architectures using technologies like Pub/Sub and Apache Kafka.
• Ideally, you'll also have a meticulous eye for design and rigorously check your own work for quality and precision, even before QA and stakeholder review.
• You are eager to learn about new tech stacks, big data technologies, data pipelining architectures, etc. and propose your findings to the team to try and optimize our systems.

Pay Range
Salary: New York: $130,000 - $160,000
