Associate Editor, Verywell Mind

Dotdash Meredith is seeking a full-time Associate Editor to join the editorial team of Verywell Mind, one of the largest and most trusted mental health sites. We are looking for a digitally-savvy journalist with top-tier editorial, communication, and project management skills and a passion for mental health.

In this role, you will report to the Senior Editor and work closely with the rest of the editors and brand leadership to execute our strategy and improve content quality and user experience, grow traffic, and increase engagement on our site and extended platforms. The primary focus of the role will be assigning and editing new evergreen content, and working on large-scale content improvement projects.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of what makes high-quality, credible content for an online audience seeking mental health support and has values deeply rooted in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment is a must.

About Your Contributions:
• Ideate, assign, edit, optimize, and occasionally write new content according to our best practices for content quality, style, and brand voice to meet production and traffic goals.
• Manage writer assignments, communication, and editorial feedback on a regular basis, ensuring that best practices and new content volume goals are met.
• Conduct SEO-based keyword research and collaborate with growth team partners to make sure every piece of content is capturing reader intent and interest.
• Help editors with recruiting and onboarding a diverse team of freelance writers, Review Board members, and sources.
• Actively participate in day-to-day team meetings, trainings, and priorities- sharing responsibilities, new ideas, and valuable feedback with the team.
• Support large-scale editorial improvement projects that enhance the quality of our library and execute content promotion processes that gets our best content to users.
• Contribute to ongoing projects working with Review Board members and other subject matter experts to improve content quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams as needed to help drive SEO, visual assets, product, video, email, transactional, and social strategies forward.

About You:
• 3+ years of experience writing, editing, and publishing digital content, ideally with a focus on health or lifestyle content
• Organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven multi-tasker
• Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational, and project management skills
• Strong editorial skills and keen sense of how to develop content that serves a targeted reader intent
• Proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic team player with strong interpersonal communication skills, cultural competence, and the ability to partner with others with empathy and shared motivation
• Ability to talk through creative visual concepts with visual editors
• Interest in learning current SEO best practices to inform editorial decisions and analytical skills to identify growth opportunities and measure performance
• Experience using digital publishing tools like content management systems, SEO research tools, analytical tools including Google Analytics, and task management tools like Google Sheets and Airtable

Pay Range
Salary: $62,400 - $66,000
