Job Description

The Core Infrastructure Team at Disney Streaming Services is responsible for the architecture, implementation, and management of the infrastructure services that power content processing and delivery globally for a range of streaming products including ESPN+ and Disney+. From managing the virtualization and container platforms to ensuring that the underlying infrastructure services operate at peak performance, Core Infrastructure is intimately involved.

We are currently seeking a senior level systems engineer to join this world-class group. Reporting to the Director of Core Infrastructure, the ideal candidate is a team player with a rich and diverse technical background. This person is articulate, is creative in their problem solving, is passionate about standardization and automation, and is comfortable working in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include:
• Storage provisioning, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Storage requirements gathering, capacity planning, security hardening, performance tuning, and audit compliance.
• Researching, evaluating, and testing new storage technologies to improve service and reduce cost.
• Automation of common tasks and procedures.
• Working closely with engineers from the systems, network, CDN, database, monitoring, and security teams, along with software development and QA teams, to develop holistic solutions.
• Working closely with vendor engineering and support to troubleshoot problems, mitigate software defects, and drive new features.

Basic Qualifications:
Qualified candidates should be highly proficient in a broad range of technologies, including object storage (Swiftstack/Caringo), NAS storage (Quobyte/Isilon), block storage (ScaleIO), and data protection (vProtect/Data Domain). Should have experience with software-defined massively-scalable architectures on commodity hardware in enterprise environments. Should have experience administering storage for virtualized environments (RHV/KVM/oVirt/Openstack), containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes/Openshift), and cloud environments (AWS). Should have expertise in Linux (RHEL/CentOS), and be proficient in popular scripting languages (Python/Perl/Bash).

Minimum 7+ years in field, candidates should have a deep understanding of the following:
• Architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-class storage solutions.
• Storage engineering including requirements gathering, capacity planning, security hardening, performance tuning, and audit compliance.
• Storage administration including provisioning, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Researching, evaluating, and testing new storage technologies to improve service and reduce cost.
• NAS storage technologies (Quobyte, Isilon).

• Block storage technologies (ScaleIO).
• Data protection technologies (vProtect, Data Domain).

• Traditional storage technologies (VNX/VMAX, Brocade/Cisco SAN switches).
• Software-defined massive-scalable storage architectures on commodity hardware.
• Storage monitoring and reporting tools (InsightIQ, Solarwinds, Icinga, Sensu, Grafana, Elk).
• Storage management in virtualized environments (KVM/oVirt, Red Hat Virtualization, Openstack).
• Storage management in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift).
• Storage management in cloud environments (AWS).
• Deployment and management tools (Ansible, Tower, Foreman, Puppet, Git).
• Advanced scripting and automation (Python, Perl, Bash).
