Software Engineer

Job Description

Disney Streaming is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Experience, Authority, Playback and Edge group within the Services & Data Engineering org. This role would be working within the Media Services team.

Media Services sits at the heart of many different systems and organizations across Disney Streaming. As such, many of our systems are considered critical-path to the overall user experience (user state management, playback URL generation/gating, stream concurrency detection/enforcement, resume watching, playback analytics) and need to be highly available, resilient and performant under high throughput.

Technologies include Scala and AWS (DynamoDB, ECS, ElastiCache, Elasticsearch, Kinesis, Lambda, S3, SNS, SQS). Experience in these areas is preferred but not required.

Qualifications:
• You have an excellent understanding of software development fundamentals and architecture, and you aren't dogmatic about technology choices.
• You have a strong grasp on object-oriented programming and functional programming concepts.
• You preferably have working knowledge of Scala and associated technologies.
• You preferably have knowledge/experience with AWS products and services (DynamoDB, ECS, ElastiCache, Elasticsearch, Kinesis, Lambda, S3, SNS, SQS, etc…) or other cloud providers.
