Senior Manager, Financial Accounting (Hulu)

Hulu's Accounting team is seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting – Subscription. The ideal candidate will have both a public and private industry accounting background. The right person for this role will be pro-active, self-directed, and sets a high bar for his/her work product. Responsibilities:
• Oversee all accounting and financial reporting aspects of Hulu's SVOD and Live TV Subscription offerings, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Review quarterly results of operations financial packages and performs analytical reviews and variance analysis for key financial and operating metrics for submission to segment and corporate reporting.
• Advise and guide leaders on interpretation of complex accounting and internal control matters and ensure alignment across other Disney operating units.
• Review pertinent sections of Disney's external financial reporting filings (10Q/K and earnings releases) to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information presented.
• Support and drive annual preparation of Hulu stand-alone financial statements and disclosures.
• Support and help develop agreed-upon-procedures review process required by the minority shareholder.
• Own all Subscription general ledger revenue, expense, and balance sheet accounts including responsibility for all month-end and quarter-end journal entry postings, supporting documentation, and account reconciliations.
• Review and approve all 3rd party distribution, Live TV, and Premium network carriage agreements, as well as all monthly or quarterly cash payments required under those agreements.
• Advise the Finance, Distribution, Partnership, Acquisition, and Legal teams on the proper accounting treatment of all contractual financial and economic matters being contemplated or negotiated as prescribed under ASC 606 or other pertinent accounting guidance.
• Assist the Finance team during preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans, and assist in the preparation of variance analysis against budgets/forecasts.
• Build, update, and maintain an effective internal controls environment. Perform quarterly control owner certifications.
• Lead quarterly/annual PwC external audits, Disney Management internal audits, internal SOX audits, and all 3rd party contractual audits, and support any external Tax compliance audits by collaborating with internal Tax teams.
• Help oversee system development, enhancements, configurations, and testing efforts and ensure financial transactions are recorded completely and accurately.
• Effectively collaborate with various teams across the organization including Legal, Tech, and Partnerships/Distribution to solve business and contractual challenges.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and help implement to obtain efficiencies.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and career guidance to both direct and indirect reports.
• Manage special projects as required.

Basic Qualifications:
• 9 to 12+ years of relevant accounting experience, including a mix of public and private industry experience.
• 5+ years of management/supervisory experience within the accounting field.
• Established expertise in financial operations, financial controls, GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and financial systems required.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft business suite
• Excellent organization and communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work extended hours during critical periods such as at quarter and year-end.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Industry experience in media/entertainment
• SAP experience

Required Education
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
• CPA (or equivalent Accounting certificate) preferred
