Job Overview:

As a Principal Cloud and Software Architect within the Product and Data Platform Group, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, and implementation of data-driven solutions that power our entertainment and sports content delivery platforms. You will work at the intersection of technology and content, leveraging cutting-edge data technologies to drive business intelligence and insights.

Responsibilities:

Architectural Leadership: Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance, and fault-tolerant software systems and data platforms.

Cloud Architecture: Design and help develop and maintain scalable, high-performance cloud-based architecture on AWS to support our data platform applications and services.

Data Integration: Collaborate with data engineers to design and implement data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and loading data from various sources into our data lake and data warehouses.

Data Security: Implement robust security measures and best practices to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Performance Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize the performance and cost-efficiency of our AWS infrastructure and data processing systems.

Data Governance: Help define and enforce data governance policies, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity throughout the data lifecycle.

Technical Leadership: Mentor and provide technical guidance to development teams, promoting best practices in cloud architecture and data-centric software design.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest AWS services and industry trends, and assess their applicability to our architecture to drive innovation.

Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of architecture and design decisions, ensuring knowledge sharing and collaboration. Mentorship: Mentor and coach junior engineers and architects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Basic Requirements
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in software/data engineering and architecture roles.
• Extensive experience architecting and implementing cloud-based solutions on AWS.
• Strong background in data-centric software development, including data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, and more.
• Experience with Snowflake Computing and Databricks as vendor provided solutions and how these solutions integrate with AWS S3.
• Experience with file formats like Parquet, Iceberg, Delta, ORC etc. and clear understanding of differences between these file formats.
• Experience in working with how AWS Cloud and on-premises Hadoop platform can integrate with each other.
• Experience in working in multiple AWS account environment and cross AWS account data and compute federation.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
• Excellent understanding of security best practices in AWS and data privacy regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make critical decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.

The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica is $180,646 to $242,330 per year, Seattle and New York is $189,256 to $253,880 per year., Florida is 172,100-230,800. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
