Manager, Product & Technology Strategy
Disney Entertainment and ESPN - Product & Technology
The Strategy & Operations team within Disney Entertainment and ESPN - Product & Technology is responsible for shaping the organization's long-term vision, developing a user-centric strategy across Disney's entertainment and sports products, and executing against the org's most critical near-term priorities. The team reports directly to the Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO), and uses strategic analysis, creative storytelling, and operational rigor to surface insights, frame trade-offs, and guide decision-making for Disney's senior leadership.
As Manager, Product & Technology Strategy you will guide the CPTO's agenda from initial planning to execution. You will define the strategic direction of the organization during a critical period of transformation, identify long-term bets for future growth, and work hand-in-hand with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers to accelerate high-priority efforts.
Responsibilities:
• Strategy Projects: Drive special initiatives for Product & Technology, and partner with Corporate, Direct-to-Consumer, and ESPN Strategy teams to accelerate Disney-wide priorities. Projects will require you to analyze user needs, assess emerging trends, develop a long-term product vision, influence roadmap prioritization, surface M&A opportunities, and/or guide organizational design.
• Long-range and Annual Planning: Serve as a primary Product & Technology point-of-contact for corporate planning. This includes articulating the strategic vision for the org, partnering with Product & Engineering leaders to define organizational commitments, and collaborating with Finance to size investments and corresponding ROIs.
• Executive Reporting: Provide regular Product & Technology updates to Disney's top executives and stakeholders, in partnership with Corporate Communications and Investor Relations. This includes roadmap reviews, performance updates, and investor narrative discussions with Disney's most senior leaders up to, and including, the CEO and Board of Directors.
• Market & Competitive Intelligence: Build a ''center of excellence'' for assessing market developments that impact the Product & Technology roadmap. This includes conducting in-depth market research, unpacking industry trends, monitoring competitor strategies, and providing actionable insights to inform product strategy.
• Operational Alignment: Drive alignment between strategic objectives and operational activities. Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and Operations to harmonize multi-year strategies with near-term goals, roadmap priorities, and operating models.
Basic Qualifications:
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in Strategy / Management Consulting roles within top-tier Technology, Media, and/or Professional Services companies.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills; capable of framing ambiguous quantitative / qualitative problems, and conducting complex analyses independently.
• A deep understanding of industry dynamics in technology and media; proficiency in the latest trends and their implications.
• Proactive ''self-starter'' with a passion for driving outcomes and a bias for action.
• Team-oriented culture carrier with a proclivity towards cross-functional collaboration and mentorship.
• Highly detail oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
• Embrace of dynamic, fast-paced, and matrixed organizations with significant executive visibility; comfortable influencing in the absence of direct control.
• Strong written, presentation and oral communication skills; capable of developing high-level presentations for senior executive audiences.
• BS/BA or equivalent experience required.
The hiring range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $166,800 - $223,600 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
