• Building the future of Disney's media business: DE&E Technologists are designing and building the infrastructure that will power Disney's media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.

Media Engineering is an innovative organization that is focused on providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to global customers, powered by exceptional technology. This strategic work requires streamlining and re-purposing technology across different business and distribution channels – including streaming, linear, and theatrical – so that technology can ebb and flow across the needs of the business.
The Media Processing & Distribution (MPD) team is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to own MPD's system integration and development test automation builds. We are part of a dynamic organization, grounded in scrum and agile practices, contributing to wide scale solutions that encompass CI/CD, release management, and application development. Our systems make up the various pipelines across Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and Star+'s VOD, live and linear content.
Your knowledge of our streaming systems and workflows will help the team integrate various software solutions, develop needed utilities & tools, define acceptance criteria and expectations for software under validation, write software to fix bugs and/or expand framework capabilities, and set priority and dedication dates to deploy software.
You will also provide engineers with an environment that allows for personal and career growth, conduct 1-on-1 conversations regularly, perform end-of-year reviews, and set career objectives with individuals. Finally, you will work closely with program, project, and product management to understand requirements and their expectations of the team.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, development, and support of the MPD Integration Framework. This automation framework is deployed in on-prem and cloud environments.
• Lead squad workloads, define priorities & roadmap items, and management of Jira backlogs.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across MPD, to clearly define objectives and expectations of software deliveries & updates.
• Mentor squad members to help them improve their technical skills, further develop their interpersonal skills, and reach career goals.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development expertise
• Extensive work experience working in digital media industries.
• Detailed knowledge of OTT concepts, principles, and practices, including encoding, packaging, and delivery.
• Experience developing automation tests and scripting.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and willingness to adapt to new technologies.
• Experience leading scrum teams and well-established knowledge of Agile practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and participate in technical discussions.
