The Enterprise Experience Design team designs the software and processes that operate our streaming services: Disney+, Hulu, STAR+ and ESPN+. Our mission is to make Disney smarter, more agile and better connected to our guests. We work on a diverse portfolio of products ranging from content management, business intelligence to customer lifecycle. We believe well-designed tools have helped open new creative possibilities across marketing, editorial and operations.
About The Role
We are looking for a veteran design practitioner to lead the design of several of our internal applications. As a Lead Designer, you will define the design process, oversee the work for yourself and several other designers, and build strong partnerships with Product, Engineering, Research and others. You also have the option to begin managing other designers.

This role reports to the Director of Product Design in New York. This role can be located near any of our offices: New York, Santa Monica, San Francisco, Seattle or Burbank. We are using a flexible hybrid model that focuses on Moments that Matter for in-person collaboration.

Responsibilities:

What You'll Do
• Design complex multi-state and conditional experiences for a diverse audience.
• Lead by example by using an evidence-based design process; understanding our users, and letting their needs guide us to the best solutions.
• Rapidly ideate potential solutions and convey initial creative ideas and concepts; at various levels of vitality using sketches, mockups and prototypes.
• Lead the design and governance of our design system; evangelizing its adoption with designers and engineers.
• Present your designs in the language of partners, stakeholders and people outside of design.
• Initiate research studies with your users to uncover product opportunities and validate solutions; and engage your peers from engineering, product and design in the research process.
• Partner with cross-functional peers and collaborate to achieve viable, feasible and desirable solutions as a team.
• Identify areas for improvement in our operations in people development, process & workflow, and design technology. Partner with DesignOps in creating an action plan.

Basic Qualifications:

Who You Are
• You have 8+ years' experience designing & shipping software.
• You are a well-rounded product designer with craft mastery in multiple design skills.
• You have a strong ability to prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short and long-term needs.
• You continuously bring business context to decisions made within and across the design practice.
• You have consulting skills to help stakeholders & partners uncover project goals, constraints & dependencies; and then guide them to optimal solutions.
• You can translate strategies into inspiring concepts and successful executions.
• You have a passion for evolving the design practice; its people, processes and tools.
• Experience with various design tools and interfaces - Sketch, Abstract, Invision, prototyping tools.

Additional Information:

If you've read through the requirements as a checklist and haven't ticked every box, don't rule yourself out just yet. We've seen that designers from under-represented groups, or untraditional professional backgrounds, bring a lot to the table that might not be covered here. If you think you have what it takes, hit that apply button!
