We have an exciting opportunity to join the Media Team within the Disney Branded Television (DBT) and National Geographic content marketing team of Disney Entertainment Television (DET). Our marketing team is responsible for Disney Channel, Disney Junior, DisneyXD, Disney Original Documentaries, National Geographic, National Geographic Wild and National Geographic Documentary Films content across the Disney+, Hulu platforms and our linear channels. Our content spans many genres reaching many audience segments from kids and family, animation, or scripted content to inspiring documentaries, natural history, and premium non-fiction.
The Media Director is responsible for developing paid media strategies and overseeing the execution of campaigns that drive awareness, viewership, engagement and brand affinity for our DTC platforms and linear networks. This position is a key touchpoint for how our marketing campaigns are brought to life to our consumers and requires a strong understanding the paid media landscape including TV planning in an Upfront marketplace, the streaming landscape, and all aspects of traditional media, digital media and experiential marketing. This leadership position will be the day-to-day contact for top priority titles from strategic development to flawless execution and post-campaign analysis. The Director is also responsible for non-title, department workload to support broader corporate KPIs.
Strong management and training skills are required to oversee a team of media experts. The role will support the VP, Media and manage a team of Manager(s) and Coordinator(s), with senior level executive and external talent/producer visibility, as well as cross-functional collaboration and agency management.
This is a fast-paced, multi-faceted position that requires strategic thinking, attention to detail, organization, and excellent communication skills, while being able to manage several projects concurrently and be self-motivated to keep projects moving against aggressive timelines.
Responsibilities:
• Leadership position that requires strategic thinking, working independently to own projects, representing media team to cross-functional teams or external partners, oversight of media team and broader strategic initiatives aligned with achieving business goals across the Disney Entertainment Television organization. Understanding of entertainment industry and the evolving streaming business is a must.
• Subject matter expertise to develop paid media strategy and tactical campaign execution to drive KPIs for assigned projects. Requires a strong understanding of paid media to include Linear TV planning in the Upfront marketplace; Digital Media to include display, video, rich media, biddable platforms, programmatic, social platforms, back-end digital execution, 1st party data, etc.
• Train Media Managers and Coordinators on media 101 and advanced strategies across traditional and digital media for both linear and DTC content
• Serve as day-to-day media planning contact on top tier priorities from strategic development through to execution. Facilitate communication between all DBT, D+ or NatGeo divisions involved. Represent media team in cross-functional meetings to ensure integrated campaign development of paid media strategies and creative asset rollout
• Create and present campaign summaries for executive leadership and external partners. Must have executive presence and be comfortable presenting in large rooms (in person and over Zoom)
• Evaluate campaign performance with research team and agency partners, reporting metrics to senior leadership. Optimize campaigns in-flight and share learnings for future campaigns to broader team to better the performance of future projects.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 8 years of media experience leading media strategy and planning of high priority campaigns
• Minimum of 2 years /Streaming experience in marketing or media
• Minimum of 2 years leading and training a team of 3-5 media planners
• Agency or in-house media experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Kids marketing experience
Required Education:
• Bachelor's degree (B.A. in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications preferred) OR Equivalent Work Experience
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $135,000 to $181,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
