Do you want to be part of the daily operations team within Disney+? Well, this is your chance! We are looking for a new Streaming Media Operator to join the Production Service Operations team at Disney Streaming (DS) in Amsterdam.

The Media Operations Department at DS consists of agile and responsive teams of technicians that perform the daily processes and procedures of our live and on-demand streaming video products. The department's responsibilities consist of round-the-clock support for these products, ensuring proper functionality across all platforms.

Production Operations is responsible for the streaming media operations and fulfilment for various products within DS. Oversight includes both Linear and Event based content. In addition, within the Production Operations org sits the Production Service Operations (PSO) team that oversees issue intake/routing, issue remediation, and performance/status monitoring.
Our PSO team is split over three locations - Amsterdam, New York City and San Francisco. We work together and share knowledge across our global sites, and you'll work closely with your colleagues across these offices.

What you will do

The day-to-day tasks for this position involve immediate response to emerging issues. Through the Incident Management process you ensure efficient and smooth handling of incoming escalations to the right departments within the organisation. When not working on issue escalations, you prepare for upcoming Disney+ product launch initiatives and customer facing feature releases.

Responsibilities
• You'll interact with several internal stakeholders including; Project Managers, Product Owners, Designers, Backend Developers, and many others within the Disney Streaming organisation.
• Run automated & manual processes to verify media is available on content delivery networks & through applications themselves
• Utilise publishing controls for media availability
• Operate proprietary software for media orchestration
• Set up specific workflows for proper stream on client devices
• Monitor applications to validate media source availability & overall health of system server, network traffic load distribution
• Research and Knowledge Management of ongoing and future incident occurrences

Who you are

In a Streaming Media Operator we look for a passionate team member who is able to understand complex systems, workflows and processes in a rapidly developing organisation. You enjoy solving complex issues through analytical thinking and scientific method. You are curious about how things work under the hood, and understand basic technical formats like JSON. In addition, you naturally document your learnings and share them within the team. You will maintain a high-level awareness of product features, workflows and processes, while also becoming a domain expert on key parts of the Disney+ service. You are able to quickly grasp complex issues based on limited data and scientific methods. Issues are escalated to the right teams, and described in clear and concise language. Learnings from the process are shared back to the team.
• You typically have 1 - 2 years of experience in a technical field directly related to delivery of video on the web.
• You are able to execute defined processes to validate the quality and availability of live/on-demand content streams.
• Experience with live/on-demand streaming
• Understanding of streaming video delivery and transmission workflows

Bonus points if:
• You are able to execute remedial operations for live and on-demand operational workflows
• Can take responsibility to monitor and confirm basic health and functionality of front-end facing features
• Able to communicate directly with Broadcast Engineering & Content Insertion departments regarding video source availability.
