Job Description
Overview

The SVP, Public Policy & Government Affairs will work closely with the Department Head to develop and implement the company's US legislative and regulatory strategy across the federal, state and local levels. Core to the role will be overseeing stakeholder outreach, serving as a trusted leader on public policy matters, serving as an external face of company policy positioning, overseeing the Political Action Committee, and educating policymakers about the content industry.

Responsibilities
• Work closely with Executive Vice President - Public Policy & Corp/Gov Affairs to develop and implement the company's US legislative and regulatory strategy at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Oversee domestic government affairs team and direct external consulting and/or trade association resources to bring focus on issues or relationship development within the regulatory and legislative arenas at federal, state, and local levels of government.
• Build an environment that both educates and involves all other appropriate company functional departments on relevant policy issues. This work will involve establishing meaningful structure, processes and strong, focused information flow in both directions.
• Provide concise, clear communications to senior management necessary to critical policy decision-making and to inform them with respect to potential challenges/opportunities related to potential government action.
• Oversee and ensure an effective key, influential stakeholder outreach program to support the CEO and other senior management in promoting the organization's strategic objectives.
• Serve as the trusted, internal thought leader on public policy matters, including driving the development of policy positions and strategies to advance company interests.
• Serve as external face of company policy positioning/thought leadership (industry panels, participation in coalitions, etc.)
• Oversee the management and growth of company's existing Political Action Committee, focusing especially on those geographic areas where company has a corporate footprint or the legislative districts of key influencers.
• Develop Company's presence in the content industry community to include all appropriate outreach programs, public/private partnerships, civic event sponsorships, etc. 
• Anticipate emerging government, public, or community/social issues of importance and position Company to address those issues.
• Develop policies, strategies, processes and plans for communicating to diverse groups in a clear, strategic, and sensitive professional manner.

Qualifications
• 15+ years of senior advocacy and public policy experience in a corporate, association, and/or Capitol Hill/Administration setting.
• Organizational leadership and management experience, the ability to motivate others to advance goals, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects or roles in a rapidly evolving environment.
• Experience as a political strategist, working closely with executive and legislative bodies, agencies, and departments at the federal and state/local level.
• Ability to work with members in the development of policy positions with the goal of producing aligned agendas that further company's priorities; demonstrated skills in leading consensus-building processes.
• The ability to balance multiple, sometimes conflicting priorities to achieve a positive outcome.
• Sound understanding of legislative processes and regulatory frameworks that impact Company.
• Ability to navigate high-impact and complex situations.
• An eagerness to execute a hands-on approach to build credibility, relationships, and knowledge.
• Strong track record for nurturing positive relationships with legislators, administrators, and lobbyists, as well as with senior management.
• The ability to persuasively communicate complex concepts and programs into concise and credible messages at the highest levels of government and business, with a proven track record of delivering high-volume and high-quality work.
• Executive presence and strong verbal, written and public speaking and presentation skills, for both internal and external audiences.
• A collaborative style, interactive with the courage and conviction to challenge and defend ideas and strategies; ability to offer creative pathways or alternative solutions both internally and externally.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Must have the legal right to work in the United States
