Job Description

This is a 6 month Fixed Term Contract

We're on the lookout for a passionate, dedicated and content-obsessed Social & Digital Content Creator to join the UK Social & Digital team as we bring viewers the very best in real-life entertainment through our brands and D2C products. As a collective, we are responsible for managing and delivering all the fantastic promotional campaigns for Discovery UK, within our Factual and Lifestyle & Entertainment brands, reaching audiences across all our passion groups. The right candidate will be able to quickly and confidently turn their hand to working across a variety of genres, such as Paranormal, True Crime, Motoring, Reality, Weddings, Adventure, Antiques and Food.

As a Social & Digital Content Creator, your focus will be on creating brilliant social-first content to engage audiences across our owned digital channels. Your content will be positively distributed by the platforms and will drive viewers back to discovery+ (our streaming platform), as well as to our linear channels.
• Source, produce and edit video content for our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) and brand websites
• Attend promo shoots for priority marketing campaigns to capture social content
• Design and create motion graphics, logos, thumbnails and simple illustrations
• Take existing brand assets and edit for use on social platforms, ie IG stories, IG reels, TikTok
• Liaise with the press team on priority campaigns, provide them with show lifts to be shared with news desks and for use in broadcast interviews
• Assist performance marketing teams when required; brainstorm ideas, produce assets (video and stills) and make updates on the fly according to real-time results
• Actively seek ways to avoid content duplication, assess what's being requested across teams, for organic social, press and performance marketing, look for ways to streamline deliverables
• Play an authoritative role in team editorial meetings, pitch fresh and exciting ideas with a digital first audience in mind
• Show distinctive judgement about digital storytelling, be confident about what elements will resonate with an online audience and what will be distributed widely by each platform
• Be aware of current social topics, proactively suggest quick turnaround ideas to tie in with latest trends and conversations taking place online
• Keep up to date with new platforms and social best practices, be an industry expert

• A passion for digital storytelling
• Excellent video editing skills, with experience creating short-form content – ideally for an entertainment/TV/SVOD brand
• Experience in self-shooting and confidence with video equipment
• Basic design skills, with an understanding of Photoshop and Illustrator
• Brilliant knowledge of what works on social media with an ability to identify ''sticky'' short-form video content, adapt/edit for different social and digital platforms e.g. Instagram vs TikTok vs Twitter vs Food Network's website
• A keen eye for detail with a high standard of spelling, punctuation and grammar
• Experience in creating performance marketing assets - a plus
• An understanding of media law and ethical considerations
• Confidence to propose new and different solutions to existing practices
• Able to think on your feet & come up with innovative, cross-platform ideas
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to be flexible
• Highly detailed oriented and organised with a keen ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a very fast-paced environment
• A love of factual and entertainment content is essential!

This role is based in our London office in Chiswick with some flexibility to work from home.
