Overview

As Discovery's portfolio continues to grow – around the world and across platforms – the Global Finance & Accounting team is building systems that meet the world class standard for which Discovery is known. The Senior Accountant - Other Revenue will play an integral part in ensuring accuracy and transparency in financial reporting and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities
• Review and analyze customer contracts to determine proper revenue recognition in accordance with applicable pronouncements and company policies
• Prepare/review revenue-related journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with the company's revenue recognition policies and practices
• Perform revenue cut-off procedures to ensure revenue is properly and accurately recorded for the period
• Participate in monthly revenue analysis against forecast
• Monitor the aging and activity of assigned customer accounts to ensure invoices/credit memos and cash are properly applied
• Assist internal and external audit in their audit evaluation processes as requested
• Cultivate strong internal partnerships with business unit personnel
• Collaborate with the team to identify process improvements and efficiencies
• Complete all work in a timely and accurate manner within established deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Perform other assignments/projects as required

Qualifications

What you need to have:
• BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited university and 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience
• Strong Excel and PC skills
• Embrace continuous improvement mindset
• Ability to execute assigned duties; results oriented
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills; keeps relevant parties informed
• Fosters positive working relationships across the organization at all levels
• Legal right to work in the United States

It's a plus if you have:
• US GAAP (ASC 606) revenue accounting experience
• CPA or path towards CPA
• SAP and/or Blackline experience
• Previous experience reading/interpreting revenue contracts
• Public accounting firm experience, particularly at Big 4 or large regional firm
• Ability to understand and apply functional/technical and business knowledge to everyday work
• Media and entertainment industry experience
• Desire to learn/accept new or unfamiliar tasks
• Capability to work in fast-paced & changing environment
• Client/customer focused mentality
• Desire to learn beyond daily job responsibilities/expand skillset
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and with agility
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Strong organizational skills and can prioritize multiple deliverables with competing deadlines
