Job Description
The Director of Marketing is responsible for the development, execution and analysis of comprehensive and strategic marketing and advertising efforts to drive revenue, brand awareness and grow customer affinity.

This role is a balance of strategic vision and operations and is charged with optimizing brand positioning, storytelling, and sales efforts across marketing channels using data and analytics. The Director will serve as a leader in creating a high-performing and diverse team while fostering a collaborative environment across the organization.

The Director of Marketing, perhaps most importantly, is a key connector between several departments internally and with external partners in order to most effectively combine artistic, creative vision with key operational, strategic efforts across the Marketing organization.

Key Responsibilities:
• Direct and design comprehensive and data-driven marketing plans for all related activity designed to drive ticket sales, revenue, and community efforts
a. Manages all club marketing research and strategy to monitor fan engagement. Works in partnership with Business Analytics team to identify trends and consumer behaviors that can be utilized in actionable marketing and advertising campaigns to drive ticket sales and corporate partnerships.
b. Closely work with the analytic and digital teams to develop customer journey campaigns including drip campaigns
c. Develop AB testing strategies in conjunction with digital team, sales, corporate partnership, analytics team, and other departments
• Develop consumer journey marketing strategies and omni channel campaigns in conjunction with the analytic, digital, creative services and sales teams
• Support and promote fan engagement initiatives and outreach in conjunction with Fan Development partners to develop new audiences and retain current audience segments. Working closely with all sales lines and corporate partner relations.
• Establish KPIs and analyze the performance of our marketing and creative campaigns, generate detailed reports, and identify areas for improvement
• Lead and execute grassroots community-based initiatives and new audience development strategies
• Develops and directs the execution of media schedules and promotional activities with key advertising partners
• Works in partnership with corporate sales to manage execution of partner assets in all club related advertising, marketing and event related properties.
• In partnership with the Promotions and Game Presentations teams, create special events, giveaways and activities based on meaningful data that drive incremental sales and improve the guest experience
• Liaise with the organization's communications team where needed to align Communications strategy with Marketing and campaign initiatives
• Manage marketing and advertising budgets
• Manage a high-performing team
• Maintain brand standards and ensure compliance across all marketing and communications channels
• Identify competitors and evaluate their strategies and positioning and devise counter-strategies
• Ensures Detroit Tigers brand is used consistently and respectfully with established guidelines.
• Focus on staff development using a supportive and collaborative approach consistently. Develop KPIs specific to team and individual contributors that are in alignment with annual and long-term organizational goals. Monitors and coach staff performance and development goals, assigns accountabilities, sets objectives, establishes priorities, conducts annual performance appraisals, and administers salary plans

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or similar field – equivalent experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of 7 years of related experience and/or training: equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Project Management ability
• Experience leading and supervising a team of marketing managers and coordinators.
• Data and analytics usage to make informed decisions on campaign development
• Compelling examples of marketing plans that are both conceptual and results-driven
• Demonstrated leadership in organizing and directing departmental operations; effectively supervising/mentoring personnel; and developing and managing budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a highly creative process, harnessing ideas and resources as needed to enable the creation of innovative omni-channel campaigns with meaningful, measurable results.
• The ability to think long-term about how to evolve the brand as the business continues to grow at aggressive rates - and to plan through the long, medium, and short-term accordingly.
• Excellent communications style with strong business acumen and ability to create messaging that drives engagement
• Proven ability to effectively execute integrated marketing communications plans
• Executive presence and comfort in all interactions with colleagues, senior-level management and critical external stakeholders (media, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to make sound business judgments in a complex, fast paced environment.
• Ability to build credibility and trust by demonstrating high ethical standards. Extreme discretion, as work may involve confidential and sensitive information.
