Head of Development

Job Description

Delirio Films, an award-winning Documentary production company, seeks an experienced Head of Development to lead and foster new projects. As the Head of Development, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and pitching new documentary ideas and projects that align with the company's vision and goals.

The ideal candidate for this position must possess strong research, pitching, and relationship-building skills. You should be highly organized, motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. The Head of Development will play a vital role in driving the company's growth and expansion by creating new projects that capture audiences' attention and resonate with viewers.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Identifying and developing new documentary ideas and projects
• Securing access to articles, stories, characters or ideas
• Creating pitch materials including loglines, one sheets, decks, etc.
• Building and maintaining relationships with filmmakers, buyers, festivals, and other key players in the documentary space
• Managing and nurturing a pipeline of new talent and projects
• Collaborating with other departments in the company, including production and post-production
• Staying up-to-date with industry trends and developments

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate should have:

• 5+ years of experience in documentary development or a related field
• A strong track record of developing and pitching successful documentary projects
• In-depth knowledge of the documentary space and its players, including filmmakers, buyers, festivals, and other industry professionals
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• A passion for storytelling and a commitment to producing high-quality, thought-provoking documentaries

LOCATION AND SALARY:

This is a full-time position based out of our dog-friendly Los Angeles office. Salary is commensurate with experience.
