Job Description
Deadline is hiring a news-savvy Staff Writer to join the team and help define and execute Deadline's evergreen coverage and syndication strategy. The Staff Writer will be responsible for writing, editing, and updating evergreen stories with SEO best practices, trending topics, and Deadline's editorial strategy in mind. The ideal candidate is someone familiar with entertainment journalism and the ever-evolving world of SEO, who is not only full of ideas but also knows how to prioritize and strategize amid a competitive media landscape.

Responsibilities:
• Write, edit, update, and optimize stories, including but not limited to explainers, lists, galleries, and other evergreen content, for Search.
• Monitor the performance of evergreen articles and use data to inform article plans.
• Collaborate with the Audience Development team to identify stories suitable for our Pinterest and Flipboard audiences.
• Work with Deadline editors to create and update evergreen content around major events like the Oscars, Cannes Film Festival, etc.

Qualifications:
• Experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics and SEMRush
• Up-to-date with the latest changes in SEO best practices and Google news
• Proficient in digital journalism, competent in using social media for finding news, and willing to roll up your sleeves to help a tight-knit team
• Familiar with the entertainment industry

This position will pay $66,750. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
