The Job

The CW Television Network is currently looking for a VP, Business & Legal Affairs executive with at least 5 years of experience negotiating and drafting a wide variety of scripted and unscripted television agreements.

The Daily
• Negotiation and drafting of scripted, unscripted and acquisition deals including script development agreements, unscripted development and production deals, writer deals, rights and format acquisition, program license agreements.
• Must be able to manage a high-volume workload efficiently and smoothly, operate independently and work collaboratively across the department and company, build strong internal relationships, and effectively advise senior level executives under time sensitive conditions through strategic thinking and risk analysis.
• Act as a senior liaison between the company's creative executives and the creative community (talent agencies, managers, law firms, studios and production companies), using experience and market knowledge to advise on new and existing business proposals and structures.

The Essentials
• BA/BS degree in related field preferred.
• JD degree and active member of the CA bar
• Must have 7-10 years experience in TV Business Affairs, legal, or programming.
• Distinct preference for previous TV experience.
• Strong experience in the drafting of contracts and negotiating.
• Must have general television production knowledge.
• Must have knowledge of digital and interactive landscape and its relation to television.
• Must have comprehensive knowledge of television agreements, guild and union regulations (SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA and IATSE)
• Must have good PC skills.
• Must have basic Windows knowledge.
• Must have excellent verbal and written skills.

The Compensation
• $200K - $230K/yr commensurate with experience and skill level
