POSITION: Senior Talent Buyer

STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Managing Partner, Booking

Crybaby is a 500 person venue in downtown Oakland. The team also plans to open a 1000 person capacity room later this year in downtown Oakland as well. We are seeking a Senior Talent Buyer to join our team as we continue to grow. The Senior Talent Buyer will be responsible for identifying and confirming appropriate talent for concert venues or events. They will manage budgets, negotiate artist fees and contracts as well as work with our marketing, production, operation, and box office departments. They will have at least 2 years of experience booking 500 to 1,000+ capacity rooms with local as well as touring artists. In addition, the Senior Talent Buyer will have established relationships within the music industry and a keen instinct for identifying talent for our audiences.

Position is based in Oakland, CA. This is a hybrid role, but candidates must be located or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Essential Functions:

  • Strong focus on the curating of diverse show programming for flagship venue Crybaby in downtown Oakland with 500 person capacity.
  • Day-to-day administrative tasks including but not limited to; approving contracts, following up on offers, advancing with marketing for assets, proof reading grids and set times
  • Execute and negotiate offers and deal points with music agencies.
  • Work closely with the Marketing department to execute advertising campaigns per venue.
  • Work closely with the Box Office department on ticket pricing and scaling.
  • Communicate important information to venue staff to ensure smooth settlement and day of show details.
  • Skill and ability interacting professionally with agents and managers to ensure adequate networking.
  • Familiar with industry standards, up and coming trends within entertainment / live music events.
  • Partner with Production and Operations teams to refine processes on developing budgets, settlements, and site advancements for each show.
  • Act as promoter representation (evenings & weekends) as needed
  • Overseeing execution of settlements on a show by show basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the booking department.
  • Identify strategies for expanding network opportunities for artists and agencies.
  • Projects could include festivals and special events.



Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of prior relevant experience


Skills Required:

  • An extremely high sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Able to have a flexible and hybrid work schedule, working both remotely and in-office as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, highly organized and easy to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to work long hours, with various personality types.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Incredible time management skills and able to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Must be able to think and react quickly and creatively in unique situations professionalism and composure.
  • Proficient in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail), Adobe Suite, Dropbox *Illustrator and Photoshop desired not mandatory*


Compensation:

  • Accepting Full Time and Part Time
  • Salary Dependent On Experience OR Commission Based
