Job Description
Come join our team!
CNN is seeking a passionate Software Engineer II to join our Technical Writing team. This role is perfect for someone enthusiastic about enhancing documentation and engineering processes across CNN. You'll work on exciting projects, including spearheading the overhaul of current mobile team documentation, creating and clarifying software best practices, and standardizing documentation spaces across the organization.
As a Software Engineer II, you'll be part of a cross-functional team focused on improving onboarding experiences, engineering processes, and interactions with the web and mobile platforms. You'll collaborate with technical leads and engineers, contributing to mobile engineering and front-end platform documentation. You will be expected to independently identify weaknesses and lead efforts to improve them.

Skills Required:
Technical Skills
• Software Experience with at least one scripting language (Python, Javascript, etc.)
• Understand engineering best practices, design patterns and resiliency testing.
• Ability to quickly and easily onboard into new technologies and frameworks.
• Proven ability to develop software solutions that enhance the development experience for engineers.
• Experience with versioning tool (git) and an agile framework

Soft Skills
• Proactive and inquisitive, with a willingness to seek clarification from subject matter experts.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to write clearly and concisely.
• Articulate in both meetings and documentation.
As a member of the team…
You will collaborate with the team to brainstorm and plan, while independently performing updates and improvements. You will lead, implement, develop, and maintain documentation across team spaces. Effective communication with engineering, product, and design team members will be essential to ensure new features meet product expectations. You will work closely with team members in the planning and execution of new features and products, thoroughly documenting your own contributions and, when necessary, the contributions of others. Additionally, you will contribute independently to the codebase, seeking reviews and ensuring technical alignment as needed.
Nice to haves:
• Experience in mobile development, including familiarity with iOS and/or Android platforms.
• Previous experience working in a start-up environment or equivalent, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive mindset.
• 1-2 years of professional development experience or equivalent , showcasing a solid foundation in software engineering principles.
