EMEA Editor, CNN Style (Maternity Cover)

With ''Culture in Context'' as its driving mission, Style is CNN's home for high-quality, cross-platform editorial covering the worlds of art, design, fashion and beauty from a global perspective.

The London-based Editor will work closely with CNN Style's Asia editor in Hong Kong and a team around the world to manage the production of all editorial output across CNN's digital network. They will manage a writer in London and coordinate a network of freelance contributors while also working closely with key departments across CNN (video, social, news, audience development, PR etc.).

The role will involve commissioning, copy editing, pitching and writing along with other operational responsibilities such as managing a monthly commissioning budget, maintaining a contributor contact database, managing the weekly publishing schedule, drafting and sharing company-wide coverage plans and planning notes.

The ideal candidate will be goals-driven and motivated by data and audience insight. Sound editorial judgement and creativity are a must. Communication and planning skills will be crucial to navigating this large international news organization. A passion and expertise for the subjects covered by CNN Style are also essential.

This is a maternity cover contract for up to one year

Your Role Accountabilities…
• Conceive of compelling and original stories and series ideas that adhere to Style's editorial mission and help meet challenging audience goals.
• Produce and oversee the production of world-class editorial coverage for Style using a mix of digital, video, interactive and social storytelling techniques.
• Be accountable for the life of assigned content, from production to release through ongoing refreshes and updates.
• Manage a writer; coordinate with a large network of freelance contributors.
• Work with other editorial leads on the team to effectively communicate Style's editorial coverage plans across departments and bureaus globally
• Act as a key contact for producers in bureaus across the EMEA region who occasionally contribute to the Style section
• Promote close collaboration with desks and departments beyond the Style team in London
• Work closely with the digital programming and social teams to ensure Style stories are effectively programmed and promoted for audiences internationally

Qualifications & Experience…
• Proven relevant experience in digital journalism, with experience covering subjects such as fashion, art, architecture, beauty
• Proven people management and leadership experience
• Exceptional writing, reporting and editing skills
• An understanding of video content production
• A solid understanding of media law and ethics
• A willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of an unpredictable news cycle

Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
