Job Title: Senior Director of Media Relations
Department: Media Relations
Reports To: Senior Vice President, General Manager
FLSA: Salary, Exempt
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as the organization's primary liaison between the media and baseball operations/uniformed personnel.
• Serve as the media relations department's primary liaison between business operations and baseball operations/uniformed personnel.
• Coordinate media requests for Major League players and other baseball operations personnel.
• Travel to spring training and perform media relations duties during that time.
• Travel with the Major League team.
• Oversee the media credentialing process for access to Great American Ball Park and during spring training the player development complex in Goodyear.
• Manage the Media Relations staff: two full-time and two interns.
• Manage the language translators working with baseball operations/uniformed personnel.
• Collaborate with business operations to assign media relations personnel to assist Reds public relations and social media when needed.
• Prepare daily game notes.
• Oversee the compilation and production of the media guide.
• Participate in the organization's ongoing strategic communications planning.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work cooperatively within the organization and with other clubs, players, fans and media.
• Perform research and conduct oral and written presentations.
• Perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities.
Experience, Education and Licensure:
• Associate's degree in public or media relations, communications or journalism required; bachelor's degree is required;
• Preference given to candidates with experience with another Major League team or its affiliates, with experience as a member of the working media and/or with experience in the sports information department at a college or university.
Requirements:
• Spoken and written fluency in English.
• Willing and able to travel within the United States and Internationally, including but not limited to Spring Training.
• Willing to work long, flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
• Willing to relocate. The position is based in Cincinnati, OH.
