Job Description
WWJ-TV CBS News Detroit and WKBD-TV Detroit50, the CBS News and Stations owned & operated duopoly in Detroit, are searching for a highly qualified excellent teammate for the position of Broadcast Engineering Technician. In this role, the Broadcast Technician will be responsible for equipment operation to support the CBS News Detroit stream and broadcast.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Must have strong technical capability and operate various studio, news, and control room equipment such as studio cameras, wireless mic/IFB systems, teleprompter, audio console, live production automation systems, and bonded cell, microwave, and satellite receive systems.
• Make ''on the fly'' changes, switching shots, camera angles, graphics and more
• Monitor video broadcasting equipment and resolve technical issues
• Ensure that all equipment is prepared for broadcast
• Lead and develop a team and work with developers for building our Live CMS platform for scheduling live events and 24/7 streams!
• Facilitate technical operations for breaking news and weather cut-ins; assist the News Department with crawls and bulletins.
• Working with Engineering and Operations teams to resolve any active incidents as well as proactively mitigate future platform issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a master control or studio production technical director.
• Experience with live production systems such as Sony ELC
• Experience with newsroom management systems such as iNews
• Experience with video production and content management systems such as Grass Valley Stratus
• A proven track record of measuring, monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing video streaming performance such as, packet loss, bitrate, compression, bandwidth considerations, and latency on end-user devices
• Knowledge of computer networking, broadcast automation, and workflow systems.
• Experience working with microwave, satellite, and bonded cell receive systems and transmission vehicles
• Strong communication, social, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated experience with editing content using non-linear editing systems, audio operation, and camera or graphics experience a plus.
• A college diploma or university degree in a related technology or communications field is preferred.
