DIRECTOR OF BROADCAST OPERATIONS & ENGINEERING

The Director, of Broadcast Operations & Engineering for CBS Colorado/KCNC-TV in Denver will lead the strategic mission of Engineering and IT as we maintain our current facility and begin constructing a new, state-of-the-art broadcast facility. This executive will be at the center of future success, encouraging an inclusive culture that adopts change and innovation. This is a challenging, multi-dimensional position with many responsibilities – Technical, Financial, Operational, Contractual, and HR-related. The position reports to the President/General Manager of CBS Colorado with a dotted line to the CBS Stations Group Senior Vice President of Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Overall responsibility for all day-to-day broadcast activities, including compliance with all regulatory and governmental agencies (FCC, FAA, OSHA, etc.), station asset management, information technology, ENG/DSNG operations, transmission facilities, remote facilities, and building operations.
• Responsible for crafting and aligning with all B.O.&E. Expense budgets and coordinating the station's Capital Budget.
• Coordinates staff training, employee safety, and quality control for all broadcast productions.
• This position is responsible for the TV technical plant/transmitter and must maintain a proactive role in maintenance to prevent on-air failures of any kind 24/7/365.
• Work with the VP of News and Director of Creative Services to identify new technologies for efficient and innovative operations.
• Coordinates the maintenance and repairs of the office, studio, transmitter, and telephone systems.
• Provide facilities (sometimes on short notice) to support any, and all in-house production efforts.
• Lead local Engineering, IT, and Building Maintenance staff.
• Handle the company's relationship with represented employees and their Union Agents. Ensure the contract is fairly applied. Participate in negotiations for contract renewals.
• Oversight of new broadcast facility through construction and opening.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Deep experience and training in Broadcast Operational, Personnel, and Facilities Management.
• Expert contemporary knowledge in Broadcast, IT, Digital, and Automation Technologies, including Design, Integration, Maintenance, and Project Management.
• Proven ability to collaborate with inter-departmental colleagues and third parties.
• Superior communication, analytical, design, planning, and management skills.
• Proven success in leading represented employees within a large corporate environment.
• Five years minimum of Broadcast Engineering Management experience, including Studio, RF Systems, Telecom, and Digital Mass Storage Systems or equivalent.
• Proven experience leading a local broadcast organization. The ability to effectively lead and handle in a dynamic and challenging environment.
• Demonstrated leadership and strategic decision-making.
• A participative leadership approach that fosters collaboration and innovation.
• Ability to recognize, create, and communicate priorities, strategies, market opportunities, and challenges to drive growth and performance improvement.
• Experience leading budgeting processes and strategic planning.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technical area or Business or equivalent experience managing Local Television Station Broadcast Operations and Engineering Department.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $140,000.00 - 150,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.

Salary Details
Salary Range: $140,000 to $150,000 Per Year ($ USD)
