Job Title: Financial Analyst

We are currently seeking an eager and exceptional Financial Analyst for CBS News. This is a great entry-level position for a candidate looking to get a broad overview of corporate finance. This person will be responsible for the administration of various tasks about the day-to-day administration, monthly forecasting, and annual planning cycles, as well as ad hoc analysis and accounting. The ideal candidate is well organized, solution-oriented, and able to take initiative.

Responsibilities:
• Budgeting/Forecasting. Work on business models to manage forecasting of the monthly P&L and drive the annual budget and financial plans for CBS News & Stations
• Reconciliation and variance analysis of forecast to actual results. Work with Accounting in preparation for monthly close and analysis of results versus forecast/budget
• Manage all accruals, contracts, and invoices for News business
• Expense management, risk analysis and mitigation. Actively monitor expense levers and cost controls required to maintain profitability and achieve budgeted profit targets
• Analyze current and past financial data and performance
• Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement
• Provide financial models and forecasting for Hard News departments and broadcasts
• Prepare monthly budget performance reports for Hard News departments and broadcasts
• Assist with the Weekly Bureau cost accounting and management
• Assist with the monthly close process by organizing supporting documents for journal entries
• Other ad hoc requests and analyses

Basic Qualifications

We believe the right individual will have the following skills and experience to be successful in the role:
• Bachelor's degree or the equivalent required
• 2+ for years of experience with news coverage, cost accounting and/or financial planning

Additional Qualifications
• High proficiency in Excel, experience in preparing complex financial models and manipulating large datasets
• Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies
• Strong communicator with the ability to moderate based on audience and demonstrate an ability to partner with a range cross-functional partner
• Experience in a highly analytical environment
• Strong work ethic, accurate and attention to detail required
