We are looking for a senior editor/writer at our University of Oklahoma site who is passionate and knowledgeable about college football, college basketball and recruiting for those sports. The ideal candidate is a writer or editor with a writing background who has at least 5 years experience covering a Power 5 football program. This person will manage/oversee a team of writers covering the Sooner athletic programs. Strong writing and reporting skills are a must. In this role, you play a key part in our coverage – planning and posting original content for our fans and our premium subscribers. It is also important to interact with subscribers on our message board(s). The ideal candidate would live in or near Norman, Oklahoma, in order to be close to campus events, news conferences, cover home games, etc.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Oversee a group of staff writers that will provided comprehensive coverage of University of Oklahoma athletics and recruiting - including breaking news, game coverage, analysis, and more.
• Edit, write and publish free and premium written updates on college football, college basketball, recruiting and other Oklahoma athletic teams
• Cover collegiate football, basketball games and other key events throughout the year to gather unique content for our users and subscribers.
• Assign stories to other staffers to make sure we are offering as comprehensive an editorial package as possible.
• Contribute to CBS and 247Sports original video programming - including live shows, features such as roundtables and other collaborative pieces.
• Post on team site message board communities and interact with fans by providing news, analysis and insight on Oklahoma athletics and recruiting.
• Oversee the management and updating of the sites podcast and social media platforms including - but not limited to - Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
• Build relationships and develop sources to provide premium information and break news.
• Provide original and quality team and recruiting content to help grow audience and message board community.
• Work with national editorial to provide comprehensive coverage on national news.

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience leading and managing a staff covering a Power 5 athletics program
• Experience covering and reporting on college football and/or college basketball
• Must be able to travel and work flexible hours including nights and weekends
• Experience in multimedia platforms such as on-camera video and podcasting
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities

Additional Qualifications:
• Experience on camera for video features around football and basketball coverage
• Experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube Instagram and TikTok!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $65,000.00 - 100,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
