Job Description
CBS Sports, a year-round leader in cross-platform sports coverage, broadcasts a portfolio of events on the CBS Television Network, including THE NFL ON CBS; college football, including the SEC ON CBS; college basketball, including the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship; golf, including The Masters®, PGA Championship and PGA TOUR; soccer, including the UEFA Champions League and NWSL; and CBS SPORTS SPECTACULAR.

In addition, the division includes CBS SPORTS NETWORK, the 24-hour cable home of CBS Sports which televises live sports programming throughout the year, including college football and basketball games, UEFA Champions League and Europa League action, Italy's Serie A matches, Concacaf national team competitions, as well as a full slate of original programming and studio coverage.

Overview & Responsibilities:

The Director of Streaming Product Manager for CBS Sports, will be responsible for establishing the vision for the next generation of CBS branded video products across all our platforms (web, mobile app and CTV) This also includes infrastructure and client side delivery, managing the development and optimization of core revenue drivers in streaming, and leading all aspects of rapid expansion of our FAST channel strategy. You will work with partners across CBS Sports, News and Entertainment as well as many groups across the broader Paramount ecosystem such as Paramount Plus and Pluto TV. This role requires an individual who is a strong leader, communicator and partner to core streaming teams within the Paramount organization such as ad operations, engineering and business intelligence/development.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Product Strategy: Develop, drive and mature the 3-5 year product strategy for our streaming products, including long-term vision, feature roadmap, and market positioning to gain stakeholder consensus.
• User-Centric Approach: Champion a user-centric product development process, ensuring that the end-user experience is at the forefront of all decisions.
• Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, competition, and new technologies to find opportunities for innovation and improvement. Evaluate new technology and product solutions to streamline our core strategies, participating in various POCs to collect meaningful insights and data to drive decisions.
• Product Development: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to launch, and ensure that products are delivered on time and within budget.
• Quality Assurance: Maintain a high level of quality in the streaming products and collaborate with QA teams to conduct detailed testing and address any issues.
• Product Development: Oversee the end-to-end product development, from ideation and requirements gathering to release and maintenance. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and quality assurance.
• Roadmap Management: Define and maintain a clear product roadmap, outlining priorities, feature sets, requirements, and delivery timelines.
• Customer Focus: Work closely with customers and partners to gather feedback, understand their needs, and translate these insights into product improvements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the video technology teams (front end and back end) to build and drive a strategy that improves live and VOD content distribution, revenue and consumer experience.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data analytics and user feedback to make informed decisions and continuously improve products.
• Product Launches: Drive successful product launches by coordinating across multiple delivery teams and measuring the efficiency of product launches.
• Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators and regularly assess product performance against these metrics, making data-driven decisions.
• Product Costing & Cost Savings: Optimize product costs and resources allocated to the product portfolio. Identify cost savings opportunities through analysis of cost savings and workflow efficiencies such as automation and performance improvement.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or equivalent experience or Master's degree in a suitable technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar).
• Proven experience in a technical product management or product director role, with a focus on streaming or video-related products.
• Deep technical knowledge of streaming technologies, including encoding, transcoding, adaptive streaming, and content delivery networks.
• Knowledge of the Sports, News and Entertainment space across the media industry.
• Data-driven analysis of industry trends, O&O and partner performance metrics and revenue opportunities.
• General knowledge of the core challenges of video streaming. A focus on quality UX/UI, video streaming experiences and performance (time to first frame, buffering, etc).
• Creative problem solver, using new technologies such as AI to investigate efficiencies in workflows along with technology leadership
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of leading cross-functional teams to deliver successful products.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical partners.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $177,000.00 - 200,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
