Job Description
Overview and Responsibilities
• Participate with management in the coordination of assignments to the IBEW Maintenance Technician Staff within the Washington, DC Bureau
• Supervise IBEW Maintenance Technicians in order to maintain consistent response and resolution to request, prioritization and delegation of IBEW responsibilities to IBEW Staff, reporting status and dependable fulfillment of managerial assigned action items and projects
• Provide technical communications and consultation to CBS management, third-party vendors and CBS staff in an efficient and constructive manor, ensuring a cooperative and productive experience.
• Provide supervision of IBEW technical service and support efforts for all business units as well as internal and external clients associated with the CBS Television Network
• Provide production and transmission related planning, implementation and problem resolution of on-site and remote feeds for live events, interviews, and breaking news
• Participate in the ownership of DC Bureau Technical infrastructure, promoting communication standards, training, documentation, and advancements in technology
• This role will be a team leader who oversees employees and encourages them to do their job efficiently in a positive manner.
• Motivate new hires and top-tier workers alike, and communicate any issues with upper management to reach business goals optimally.

Primary Responsibilities
• Organized individual with good interpersonal and communication skills, able to work in a team environment and provide supervisory instruction in a capable and professional manor
• Coordinate daily activities and responsibilities within the Maintenance department
• Coordinate with Operations Managers and Staff for operational set-up and control fulfilment via multiple production and transmission systems and services
• Position requires ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues to maintain operational continuity
• Be able to communicate professionally and efficiently
• Be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and occasional overtime
• Be willing and capable to travel to foreign countries and supervise in the field as an Engineer in Charge of high-profile events and productions
• Be willing to join the IBEW union

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of experience required in a Technical Broadcast Engineering and Operations role including shown experience in live-to-air television and remote field operations, with responsibility for audio/video/data set-up, quality and continuity
• Hands-on experience setting-up and operating transmission and production facility systems and services
• Basic knowledge of RF modulation, MPEG compression, multiplexing, encryption, SMPTE 2110 and data transport standards, understanding of signal flow and the analog and digital forms of standard and high-definition video, audio, and ancillary data

Additional Qualifications
• Technical education preferred.
• Knowledge in configuration and operation of video/audio/RF and data test equipment such as waveform displays, vector-scopes, audio monitors, and spectrum analyzers.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced live TV environment
• Proficiency with PC-based Microsoft Office products
• Strong communication skills, oral and written, to detail and ability to report and resolve technical matters
