Job Description

Youth Protection Manager (f/m/d)

We are looking for a Youth Protection Manager to join our legal team and provide advice to the linear feeds and services licensed in Germany such as Cartoon Network, Boomerang, TNT, TCM, WarnerTV and Toonix on compliance issues, in particular the applicable German Broadcasting Code (''Rundfunkstaatsvertrag''). The role will cover various services licensed in Germany and distributed across Europe.

The Daily:
• Ensure that all content transmitted on the feeds and services licensed in Germany is compliant with the law, the Rundfunkstaatsvertrag, and the framework of the channel's own Editorial Guidelines.
• Working closely with the editorial team of the relevant feeds as they make decisions throughout the day, especially with regards to the airtime of programmes and content.
• Liaise closely with Assistant Regional Counsel & Head of Legal on all legal and regulatory matters.
• Participating in industry forums, lobbying and regulatory responses.
• Maintaining and update compliance information.
• Providing training to editorial and sales personnel on the law and industry regulations including writing and presenting seminars, maintaining a compliance handbook and other documents setting out the regulatory approach.
• Investigating and responding to regulatory and viewer complaints.
• Dealing with BLM and other applicable regulators when investigating complaints.

The Essentials:
• Extensive PQE or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of applicable rules of the Rundfunkstaatsvertrag, especially on youth protection and advertisement regulation.
• Experience of giving advice on youth protection issues pre-publication/ broadcast issues to a media organisation.
• Strong communication skills and an ability to provide advice meeting tight news deadlines.
• Impeccable research skills.
• Fluent in German and English. Language skills in French, Polish or Romanian (desirable).
