The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Scrum Master to join the CAA Information Risk Management (IRM) team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, excellent coaching and facilitation skills, and a unique ability to influence. As the IRM Scrum Master, you will work closely with cross-functional agile team members, leadership, and stakeholders to foster an agile mindset, enhance delivery processes and optimize overall team performance.
Our Team
The IRM team is responsible for safeguarding CAA's data, systems, and reputation by managing cybersecurity, data protection, and risk initiatives. As the IRM Scrum Master, you will play a pivotal role in driving the execution of key initiatives across our multi-year program roadmap. Your role will involve coaching and mentoring team members, facilitating Agile processes and helping to ensure solutions are accepted by stakeholders within fixed timelines, iteration by iteration. You will help ensure the teams are aligned with enterprise risk strategies while delivering tangible business value.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Iteration/Sprint Planning Meetings
• Facilitate effective sprint and PI planning sessions that align the team around security-related business priorities and delivery goals.
• Coordinate successfully across multiple agile teams to deliver security goals and objectives.
• Ensure the team creates a clear roadmap, achievable user stories ad acceptance criteria that support incrementally delivery toward a Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
• Align planning efforts with compliance-driven mandates and incorporate incident driven demands of cybersecurity work into planning framework.
• Guide the team to right-size commitments, manage capacity and avoid scope creep.
Sprint Reviews
• Lead and participate in sprint review meetings, capture stakeholder and IRM feedback and translate into actionable backlog items.
• Drive alignment to cybersecurity and infrastructure standards across all teams through clear communication of review outcomes.
• Remove impediments and protect the team from external distractions to maintain focus and momentum.
Retrospectives
• Facilitate retrospectives that drive continuous improvement in both Agile delivery and IRM collaboration.
• Drive continuous improvement by addressing challenges and celebrating success.
Agile Board Administration
• Serve as the Jira board administrator, ensuring real time visibility into team progress, backlog health and sprint commitments.
• Ensure work items are up-to-date, and maintain smooth workflow transitions.
Stakeholder and Team Coaching
• Act as a trusted coach and mediator for team members and stakeholders.
• Support team dynamics and resolve conflicts around risk priorities, process, and organizational goals.
• Foster alignment between cross-functional teams, Product-Owners and leadership
Reporting and Analysis
• Regularly analyze burndown charts, team velocity and other planning tools to understand progress and cadence towards MVP
• Provide clear and concise updates to executives and program leads on team progress to quarterly goals.
Innovative Problem-Solving
• Champion an innovative approach to problem-solving and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of Agile practices.
• Foster a culture of experimentation by introducing Agile techniques that can accommodate both planned security work and real-time incident response.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of proven experience as a Scrum Master (Scrum and Kanban is a plus)
• Certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM); continuous professional development required.
• Demonstrated experience facilitating Agile ceremonies, driving team performance and leading PI/Quarterly Planning events.
• Cybersecurity domain knowledge strongly preferred:
• NIST Cybersecurity Framework
• Threat detection and response
• Vulnerability Management
• Identity Access Management
• Network Security and Endpoint Protection
• Governance, Risk and Compliance
• Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal and negotiation skills at the C-Suite to the individual team member levels
• Experience in software development and project management
• Experience with hands on Agile training
• Proficient with Atlassian products, such as Jira Software and Confluence
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Advanced certifications in Agile methodologies are a plus.
Location: This role is fully remote. Occasional travel including company meetings and events is expected.
Compensation: The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $138,000 - $159,000 in Los Angeles . This position is also eligible for benefits and a discretionary bonus. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in the role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
