The Role

BuzzFeed has an opening for an experienced Financial Operations Manager based out of our London office (we are currently in the WFH environment). You will be responsible for assisting the Finance and Accounting functions in streamlining financial and business processes, assisting and completing monthly reporting and tracking, and setting and executing on International strategy across territories all over the world. You will look across the businesses to assist in creating better financial processes and controls including but not limited to monthly close processes and consolidations, reporting,, and evaluating contracts with vendors. You will also oversee the general ledger in tandem with the Director of International Accounting, support the monthly, quarterly & year end close processes for international subsidiaries as well as audits, adhere to internal controls, and perform ad hoc tasks and analyses. You will collaborate with FP&A in financial international strategy work including both organic and inorganic growth opportunities , creating revenue and cost forecasts by territory, benchmarking, reporting, and problem solving. As a member of a growing and fast-paced team, you will be an integral part of the Accounting & Finance team to support BuzzFeed's advancing business. Process driven, an analytical mindset, and excellent communication skills are necessary for this role as you will be interacting consistently with individuals from across the business. Additionally, as with any position involving financial responsibility, a sharp eye for detail and the ability to maintain financial confidentiality is paramount.

You will be based in our London office and will work closely with a team of two.

You Will
• Maintaining the general ledger and prepare financial reports for the the international subsidiaries, as well as perform consolidation and elimination entries where necessary
• Assisting with local statutory audits where applicable, liaising both internally and externally as required
• Assisting with the month end close process for all international entities including but not limited to all month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Working with external advisors in local markets to ensure monthly, quarterly and annual statutory filings are completed on time including but not limited to VAT returns, ECSL and withholding taxes
• Working with appropriate internal stakeholders to identify areas for finance improvement and transformation in policies, procedures and processes
• Creating analyses that guide financial strategic decisions, including but not limited to the ability to forecast and pace revenue to highlight areas of risk and opportunity
• Leading/supporting ad-hoc strategic analyses, developing key insights that support business initiatives by collaborating with key business leaders
• Evaluating and developing business cases in support of new product launches
• Helping establish actionable, operating metrics and reports; tracking and analyze key business drivers, understanding macro and micro market trends, and operating metrics
• Reviewing and owning the budgets and forecasts across multiple territories, and supporting their strategic planning processes

You Have
• CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualification preferred but not required
• Minimum 5 years experience in industry Accounting (Additional Finance or Business Operations experience preferable but not required)
• Broad knowledge of all Accounting functions and their contribution to the 'bigger picture'
• Working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
• Understanding of statutory audit procedures internationally
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (can perform complex functions) and suite of programs
• Knowledge of NetSuite or similar Accounting software package (SAP, Access Dimensions) as well as other adjacent programs such as Concur
• Quantitative and excel financial modeling skills
• Understanding of financial statements and quantitative performance metrics
• Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership, and influence and guide change through value added input
• Ability to tailor communications to audiences as appropriate, including distilling highly technical concepts into easily understandable language
• High level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to handle and prioritize multiple work streams while making sure all analysis is error free
• Self-starter with a track record of identifying opportunities and executing on critical projects
• Ability to streamline and design efficient processes across different business functions
