Create a scalable design system and drive visual design excellence across BMI's product suite. Collaborate with engineering to build a unified design language that enhances user experience, ensures consistency, and improves implementation efficiency. Own the visual design process, developing reusable components and design patterns, and ensuring seamless integration across the product.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Design System Creation and Ownership
• Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive design system that scales across multiple products and platforms.
• Ensure the design system includes reusable components, patterns, styles and guidelines that promote consistency, efficiency and unified user experience.
• Collaborate closely with engineering to drive a design tech strategy that seamlessly integrates the design system into development workflows, enhancing both design and development efficiency.
• Work with product teams to ensure that the design system is leveraged effectively across the organization, driving consistency and quality.
• Conduct regular audits and improvements of the design system to ensure it aligns with evolving user needs, business goals and technical capabilities.
Visual Design Leadership
• Drive the visual design direction for the product suite, ensuring high-quality, user- centered designs that align with both brand and business goals.
• Create pixel-perfect visual designs, including UI elements, typography, color schemes and iconography, ensuring a cohesive look and feel across all user interfaces.
• Partner with engineering to ensure designs are technically feasible, aligned with the design system and properly integrated into the front-end development process.
• Lead visual design reviews with product and engineering teams, providing constructive feedback to ensure design integrity, usability and access standards are met.
Process and Framework Development
• Establish and refine design processes to ensure consistent and efficient delivery of high -quality visual designs.
• Drive the development of scalable systems and design frameworks that empower teams across BMI, making design more efficient and measurable.
• Collaborate with engineering to create design-driven workflows that enhance collaboration and streamline product development.
• Define and implement design metrics to evaluate the success of design efforts and ensure continuous improvement, both from a design and technical perspective.
End-to-End US Ownership
• Lead all phases of the UX process, from research and ideation to prototyping, user testing and final design delivery.
• Conduct user research (e.g., user testing, surveys, feedback loops) to validate design choices, ensuring visual design decisions are rooted in user needs and data.
• Own the visual design vision for designated products, ensuring final designs align with user needs, technical constraints and business goals.
• Collaborate with engineering to ensure the visual design is implemented with precision, ensuring high-quality and efficient execution that adheres to the design system and specifications.
Stakeholder Communications and Influence
• Present design concepts, strategies and visual designs solutions to leadership and key stakeholders, building consensus and support for design decisions.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on design-related matters, providing insights and influence product direction, technical strategy and decision-making across teams.
• Advocate for design within technical discussions, ensuring alignment between design, engineering and product teams to create cohesive, user-centered products.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline. Music industry experience preferred.
Experience:
• 8+ years of experience in UX and visual design, with a portfolio that demonstrates expertise in design systems and design leadership.
• Proven experience in creating and maintaining comprehensive design systems that scale across multiple products and platforms.
• Experience with front-end development practices and working closely with engineers to ensure design feasibility and accurate implementation.
• Experience mentoring or leading designers, providing constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative design culture.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Expertise in user-centered design principles, design systems and interaction design.
• Expertise in visual design principles, including typography, color theory, layout and user interface design.
• Strong proficiency in design and prototyping tools.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to lead multiple initiative simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design and a passion for delivery intuitive, visually engaging user experiences.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present and justify design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to balance strategic vision with tactical execution, managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility with changing priorities.
• Ability to mentor and coach other BMI resources in UX design.

SALARY RANGE
The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience, and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. The position may also be eligible for one or more performance-based bonuses.
