Job Description

Responsible for managing the people, processes, and systems that collectively produce the performance data underpinning BMI royalty distributions in the Media, General Licensing, and emerging/converging markets. Additional opportunities will become available for more advanced data analysis, project management, and process innovation as BMI's infrastructure and strategy evolve alongside marketplace trends.

LOCATION

Nashville, TN office. BMI has transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office three (3) days a week. Decisions regarding future transitions will take place in phases as BMI continues to closely monitor COVID-19 as employee safety is our priority.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
• Manage a team of data processors to ensure production goals are met on schedule.
• Manage relationships with data vendors to ensure agreement terms are being met; e.g. delivery dates, technical specifications, and quality standards.
• Manage the workflows involved in converting 3rd party performance information into proprietary data that is appropriate for use in royalty distributions. This involves monitoring inbound deliveries for use in production, initiating technical jobs within BMI's operational systems, reviewing results for accuracy, and resolving procedural obstacles as they arise.
• Manage the identification activities – both in house and via 3rd party vendors, that support BMI's efforts to license new businesses.
• When viable 3rd party data is not available for procurement, devise and execute projects to source, prepare, and operationalize suitable alternatives.
• Work with the Department Leadership, Quality Assurance Managers, and relevant IT groups to define and implement quality assurance measures that ensure performance data information is complete and accurate.
• Manage the investigation and resolution of music reporting and performance identification issues.
• Serve as the knowledge leader as it relates to music usage in the markets that comprise this position's purview. Remain apprised of developments related to specific companies and relevant technologies impacting those markets, and the relationship that these markets have to BMI's overall revenue and customer service strategies.
• Analyze new markets and media to assess appropriateness and readiness for BMI royalty distribution implementation.
• Administer the operational processes required to produce customized or prototyped royalty distributions in emerging markets.
• Actively participate in training and provide ongoing coaching to team members to ensure they are continuously expanding their knowledge bases and skill sets.
• Ensure that the team is equipped with the necessary resources to perform their jobs and that departmental goals are being met.
• Continually evaluate current business processes and systems.
• Participate on project teams with the design, development, testing and implementation of new systems/software.
• Establish new policies and procedures to improve quality and processing efficiencies.
• Prepare team members' performance reviews for merit increases.
• Recognize and, when appropriate, reward exceptional job performance
• Organize and manage departmental meetings/stand-ups.
• Participate and contribute to special projects on an as needed basis.
• Handle relevant day-to-day operations inquiries.
• Regular attendance.
• Stay abreast of current industry trends relevant to BMI's business.

• Other relevant duties as needed.
• Manage the investigation and resolution of music reporting and performance identification issues.
• Assist with the onboarding of new sources.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises departmental team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, directing and ensuring reliability of work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree with music business or general concentration preferred.
Experience: Minimum four (4) years external experience in operational/processing field, music business or at least three (3) years in BMI related field.
Skills and Abilities: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

Salary Range:

The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience, and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. The position may also be eligible for one or more performance-based bonuses.
