JOB DESCRIPTION

The Big Ten Network is currently seeking a Home Run Productions (HRP) Support Engineer to join their team in Chicago. The role is responsible for connecting, quality control, troubleshooting, and the repair of broadcast television equipment including cameras, switchers, video servers, audio, and graphics equipment. As the Support Engineer, your primary focus is working on and resolving incidents between the Big Ten Network and remote sites and technically support the Field Engineers. Additionally, you will conduct routing and restorative maintenance of electronics and electrical systems, as well as support various projects and project research. You are very important in helping manage production personnel experiences and perceptions

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support relating to technical issues involving engineering core business applications and operating systems
• Engineering support relating to technical issues involving production specific business applications and systems
• Basic technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security solutions
• Basic remote access solution support
• Monitor the remote monitoring and management system alerts and notifications and respond accordingly
• Communicate with production; keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or outages
• Improve production customer service, perception, and satisfaction
• Fast turnaround of production requests
• Escalate production requests that require elevated support
• Enter time and expenses as it occurs
• Enter all work as service tickets with corresponding time entries

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• 3+ years of experience maintaining and repairing broadcast equipment
• Solid working knowledge of electronic and electrical systems
• Understanding of operating systems, business applications, and network systems
• Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide engineering services
• Telephony skills, communication skills, active listening, and customer-care
• Diagnosis skills of technical issues
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly
• Ability to match resources to technical issues appropriately
• Ability to understand production and assess their needs
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
• Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment
• Professional work ethic for this industry
• Able and willing to put in overtime to resolve incidents and problems
• Complete required training to improve effectiveness in your job role

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in television production, Electronics, Applied Science, or a related field
