Overview and Responsibilities

The BET Original Programming & Development department is looking for a Vice President to join their team.
• Identify new show concepts and talent that will be the next BET hit franchises
• Develop and creatively lead a slate of unscripted series for BET and BET+ to include presentations, pilots and current series – with a specialty in large scale formats and docu-ensemble
• Oversee and manage pre-production, production and post-production for development projects and current series from ideation to series delivery including paper development, casting, staffing, noting cuts, etc.
• Guide show creators and showrunners creative mentorship through concept development and the production process on outlines, scripts, creative bibles, casting, dailies and cuts.
• Work cross-functionally with internal departments like: Programming, Brand Creative, Business & Legal Affairs, Ad Sales, Marketing, Research, Press and Social/Digital
• Attend and act as creative executive at production tapings, shoots and post-production as required
• Build and manage relationships within the creative community: agents, managers, emerging talent, production companies, producers,
• Attend showcases and festivals to source new talent and creatives for prospective projects

Basic Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in unscripted content production or development Additional Qualifications
• Strong track record overseeing cable and broadcast series
• Has substantial creative contacts and relationships
• Experience in team management
• Extensive industry knowledge

• Excellent writing and storytelling/narrative skill
