Responsibilities

What You'll Do:
• Minimum 5 years over-the-air radio or television broadcast technology experience;
• Cool under pressure during mission critical situations and deadlines
• Hands-on FM, HD, Streaming, and AM transmitter experience
• AM Directional Antenna experience helpful
• Ability to inspect, repair, and maintain all broadcast radio station equipment, including transmitters, antenna's, satellite downlinks, automation system, studio equipment, remote equipment, generators, telephone systems, and related other equipment
• Knowledge of FCC Rules and Regulations
• Strong verbal and written skills
• Proven time management skills including ability to multitask in a multiple project environment
• General modern IT & Networking knowledge and experience
• Strong PC skills including proficiency with Google Workspace products. Windows O/S, Mac O/S, and Linux O/S experience helpful.
• Experience with Computer based audio storage systems (we are a WideOrbit Playout and NewsBoss CMS shop)
• Experience and/or familiarity with digital audio editing software deployment and setup such as Adobe Audition and Wheatstone VoxPro
• Audio Streaming experience helpful

Qualifications

Required:
• Excellent customer service and communication skills are critical.
• Basic knowledge of computers and IT systems is a must, including networking and proficiency with Google Workspace products
• Shift work required with one weekend day as part of a five-day schedule.
• Familiar with ticketing systems and workflow models
• Demonstrated ability in the use of Computer Aided design software such as AutoCAD (TM) or FastCAD (TM).Demonstrated ability to read electronic schematics, color codes for electrical components, shop drawings, and building plans. Demonstrated ability with hand and power tools such as tape measures, wire strippers, wire cutters, crimping tools, electronic screwdrivers, plus hand and power saws, and Band-Aid application.
• Demonstrated ability to differentiate between Microphone and Line level devices, Analog and AES Audio conventions, balanced Vs. unbalanced audio circuits.
• A valid driver's license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires the use of the applicant's own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required. Typically, company vehicles are available for Technical use.

Preferred:
• Seven to Ten Years of previous studio, RF, and/or Field Experience desired
• Retired and exiting military personnel with Radio/Radar and/or General Electronics backgrounds given preference.
• Experience with modern digital audio systems including Wide Orbit, Axia Livewire, Digital Audio and Video Codecs, plus modern Microwave Relay Transmission techniques
• Availability to work various hours / days, including weekends and holidays
• Must have at least two years of college or technical school and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as indicated
• Rotating Team On-call availability 24/7 to respond to equipment failures.
• FCC General Class Radiotelephone/Radiotelegraph and Amateur Radio License Holders and/or SBE Certification holders are encouraged.
• Red Cross CPR/AED Certification helpful.

While performing the duties of this job, you will frequently be required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and smell. You must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Additional Information

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated starting salary range for California based individuals expressing interest in this position is $45.00/Hr to $50.48/Hr. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.
