Sr. Producer (The Jim Rome Show/CBS Sports Radio)
Overview

This position is a highly coveted one within the media industry. Jim Rome hosts a self-titled weekday radio and television program simulcast heard on more than 200 radio stations and seen on the CBS Sports Network and via a widespread digital presence online and in social media. The Senior Producer collaborates with Jim Rome each day to produce and create a three-hour radio program, coordinating and preparing for the appearances of high-profile athletes, coaches and league officials. Additionally, this role allows for daily content collaboration with Jim Rome, providing declarative observations on the world of sports and the culture that surrounds this significant part of the American landscape. Those contributions include writing well-researched and defined observations in the voice
of the program. They are shared with the audience by the host of the program and heard by millions of listeners and viewers in America each day.

The Jim Rome Show is the longest running sports talk radio program in syndication. It's regarded within the industry as a pioneering effort in solo hosting a daily conversation with the audience. Today's radio program hosted by Jim Rome includes not only the audience relationship via radio and an accompanying podcast, but also a social media presence and regular appearances on other programs. There are opportunities to travel with Jim Rome for Super Bowl, Final Four and other high-profile appearances, providing producing counsel.

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated starting salary range for California based individuals expressing interest in this position is $60,000 to $75,000. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

The qualified individual for this position should have a minimum several years of everyday writing cadence as a regular course of professional habit. He or she should possess a superior knowledge of both the professional major sports as well as collegiate sports. Experience in a collaborative writing environment is a very helpful work experience trait. Writing in a first person, expression filled descriptive language manner that echoes the tone of the program and the relationship that exists between the host and his audience is also most helpful. Experience

in producing radio programming is highly preferred, but not necessary. Understanding the nuances of a live audience relationship, the coordination of interviews for timely input, manufacturing a certain energy that attracts and holds a large audience and properly preparing all participants involved in the creation of a radio program known to perform at this audience and affiliate size is extraordinarily helpful.

The Senior Producer will be working in a radio and television studio environment with half a dozen other individuals, in a specially built out broadcast facility in Irvine, CA. The workday starts early at 6am and continues through a daily 9am to Noon PT zone broadcast, with subsequent follow up duties planning for the next days' broadcasts. There is frequent collaboration in the weeknight evenings, in the preparation of interviews and breaking news in the world of sports. The individual should have the interest and time to observe live sports broadcasts, so as to witness the events that many of our listeners do, as well as maintain a high intake of information received through other broadcasts and social media.
