Overview

Detroit's top all-news radio station, WWJ Newsradio 950, has launched an exciting transformation of its digital news operation, and is seeking talented digital journalists with strong news judgment and news gathering skills, as well as a passion for local news and audio storytelling. The team is working to grow our audience across all platforms, from the mobile web to social media to smart speakers. This role reports to the Managing Producer of Podcasts and presents an opportunity to join an award-winning news operation that has built a large loyal listening audience over many years, and now seeks to extend its reach by creating and distributing an array of new digital content.

What You'll Do:

- produce and edit podcasts and audio stories
- develop story ideas and podcasts for breaking news and evergreen topics
- research, report, and write podcast and custom audio segments
- conduct, record, and edit interviews for digital news stories
- work with broadcast and digital news leads to curate and tailor broadcast audio segments for digital distribution
- publish audio stories and podcasts on all digital platforms
- create short videos and graphics to promote podcasts on social media channels
- write and edit headlines and text to position multimedia content for maximum engagement across multiple platforms
- perform other digital media duties as assigned Qualifications
- bachelor's degree
- 2-3 years of experience producing, editing, and distributing podcasts and/or multimedia digital news content
- proficiency in Adobe Audition or comparable non-linear digital audio editing software
- familarity with best practices on all social media platforms
- strong news judgment and writing skills; ability to work under deadline pressures
- experience with content management/online publishing systems
- passion for local news, podcasts, and digital media
- avid social media user
- proficiency in Adobe Premiere or comparable software
- Graphic design experience, including Photoshop or comparable
- ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments under deadline pressure
- strong organizational skills and solid work ethic
- ability to take direction well, and provide self-direction
- available on weekends, early mornings, evenings, and Holidays
