Job Description

Design Director

Responsibilities
• Oversee a team of product designers and digital designers contributing to all Audacy platforms, including but not limited to: mobile app, web (publishing platform and audio player), partner platforms, voice interfaces, and the marketing design for all of the above.
• Partner with the product management team, engineering and other stakeholders to solve problems innovatively and efficiently.
• Advocate for user experience on a daily basis, by initiating user research, data analysis, user reviews and best practices, and regularly applying those learnings to future iterations.
• Maintain a cohesive, usable design system across platforms, and enable the documentation and evolution of said system at appropriate times.
• Encourage collaboration and communication across the design team to ensure the platform consistently expresses branding, upholds usability, embodies best practices and delivers a tailored, high-quality experience anywhere our users engage with us.
• Continually evolve how the Audacy brand comes to life in digital by proposing new branding implementation, new modules and components, and new features.
• Manage various design and team tools, including: Sketch licenses, Marvel prototyping app, Dropbox, UserTesting.com, etc.
• Day-to-day team management, including: PTO, scheduling and documentation, reviews, coaching, etc.

Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in a combination of product, graphic, visual, and marketing design, specifically digital.
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates previous work samples, primarily work for apps, web and other mobile-first digital platforms.
• 5+ years of experience managing teams of 4 or more people.
• Excellent sense of typography, image, iconography, color and visual hierarchy, as well as consistency across platforms and various asset types.
• Ability to digest, interpret and art-direct against brand guidelines, as well as apply them in an elevated way across all touchpoints.
• Proficiency with the latest design tools and software (Adobe CS, Sketch, Marvel), as well as familiarity with other tools and the ability to make recommendations for future usage.
• Experience project-managing multiple parallel-timeline projects within a cross-functional team.
• Experience with designing for emerging technologies and connected devices is a plus.
• Light proofreading/copyediting/copywriting skills a huge plus, as well as the ability to oversee copy direction for consistency purposes and general best practices.
• Ability to take direction from design leaders and other senior leadership, and apply in your own work as well as articulate feedback and shape work of other members of the team.
• Excellent organization, communication and file management skills.
• Able to maintain a big-picture perspective while triaging requests, digest what is being asked, and push back on stakeholders or offer alternate solutions.
• Must be able to work autonomously and remain flexible to changing priorities.
• Can effectively and respectfully interface with senior leadership, inter-departmental stakeholders, and subordinates alike.
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle a high volume of work, taking ownership and following up on projects through to completion.
• Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Graphic Design, Editorial Design, Web Design, or related field.
