Senior Vice President, Development (Disney Branded Television)

Disney Branded Television is seeking a qualified candidate for an SVP Development role, to manage the scripted series development team and oversee the department's day-to-day operations. In this role, the SVP will identify and develop ideas/concepts for scripted series and creatively supervise production of scripted series pilots.

Responsibilities include:
• In partnership with senior leaders, create and execute the creative strategy to develop unique, compelling and on-brand scripted series content.
• Oversee a creative team that self-generates, solicits and evaluates ideas/concepts to develop into scripted series, and then oversee their development.
• From a creative standpoint, oversee production of pilots to ensure the integrity of the creative vision.
• Partner closely with Casting for on-air talent decisions.
• Give creative guidance and feedback to top level show runners on outlines, scripts, and cuts.
• Spearhead problem solving and crisis management resolution with studio partners and outside producers on all creative and production issues.
• Develop and maintain relationships with talent (writers, producers, directors, actors, authors, filmmakers, etc.), identifying the creators and show runners of tomorrow and actively pursuing business with them.
• Serve as point of contact with the creative community to identify and develop new projects.
• Collaborate with other departments, including Business Affairs, Program Planning and Schedule, Marketing, etc.
• Manage special projects and assignments as required.
• Lead and mentor development team.

Requirements:
• Strategic and creative minded executive with a track record of developing commercially successful and/or critically acclaimed original scripted series.
• Significant experience working as a development or current series executive at a network, studio, streamer or production company.
• Experience leading a creative team in the development/production of scripted series.
• Deep understanding of the scripted series development and production processes.
• A commercial creative sensibility and the ability to guide how content is expressed across multiple viewing platforms.
• Strong relationships with agents, managers, writers, and producers.
• Significant knowledge of the network television and, ideally, streaming television landscapes.
• A management/leadership style grounded in collaboration, transparency and accountability.
• Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management.
• A self-starter, who is assertive, enthusiastic, and highly motivated.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Disney Channel audience and values, as well as knowledge of content and current series.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Education:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $270,500 to $ $371,900 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
