Job Description
The WLWT Sales Intern will develop a working knowledge of the business side of advertising during this paid 10-week program.

Sales:
• Shadow client specialists.
• Shadow digital account manager.
• Shadow national sales department.
• Monitor and assist in client prospecting.
• Monitor and assist in research of target accounts/categories for upcoming client presentations.
• Monitor and assist in creation of sales materials (PowerPoint, video, etc).
• Assist in fielding phone calls.
• Shadow and assist sales professionals in the field.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 31, 2023

Commercial Production:
• Monitor and assist with script writing/brainstorming new commercial ideas.
• May shadow commercial production crew in the field during commercial shoot.
• May shadow commercial production crew during editing process.

Research:
• Learn basics of Cincinnati media.
• Monitor and assist in researching market and industry changes.
• May shadow research director during programming/research/informational meetings.

Additional Exposure to WLWT:
• Attend a brown bag LUNCH and LEARN hosted by WLWT'S President & General Manager in the WLWT Board Room.
• Spend 15-30 minutes with each WLWT Department Head reviewing each department's role in the daily operation of the television station.

Successful Completion of Internship:
• Perform a mock sales presentation as the final project.
• After completing the 10-week internship, the intern should understand the role of the sales department in broadcast television and understand the advertising solutions broadcasters can offer to local clients.

Standard Practice for All Interns:
• Attend as many sales meetings, including sales consultant, sales research, and any sales vendor meetings, as possible.
• Attend as many sales team functions as possible.
• Observe and actively engage with sales team to develop skills for a sales career.

Syllabus for Sales Internship

Weeks 1-2
• Meet with local sales manager
• Meet with digital sales manager
• Meet with general sales manager
• Meet with national sales manager
• Introductory meeting with each account executive
• Complete Doyle on Demand -TV Sales 101 module

Weeks 3 – 10
• Train with research director to learn market information and research tools (Marshall, Media Monitors, etc).
• Meet with sales assistants to shadow daily activity and begin to learn WideOrbit software.
• Train with digital client specialist.
• Shadow and assist commercial production department.
• Spend 15-30 minutes with each WLWT Department Head reviewing each department's role in the daily operation of the television station.
• Train with digital account managers.
• Attend account executive one on ones and internal sales meetings.
• Spend a day shadowing each account executive.
• Understand products, sponsorships, and opportunities.
• Begin building prospect list and monitor competitive.
• Continue to execute Doyle on Demand modules.
• Work with account managers, sales managers, and support team members to create a sales presentation as the intern's final project.
• Assist with client communication and event planning.
