Alloy Entertainment is seeking a creative editorial intern for its summer 2024 season. Alloy is a small team with a big heart, and we are seeking an intern that is ready and willing to dive into the creative process and be a hands-on member of the team from day one. This intern will attend development meetings, participate in brainstorming sessions, learn about the publishing and media industries, and help with administrative and organizational tasks around the office. We are most interested in candidates that are proactive and feel that they can flourish in a fast-paced work environment.

Alloy Entertainment, a Warner Bros. Discovery Company, is a creative thinktank and full-service editorial partner that develops and produces original books, television series, and feature films. Our hit properties include Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, You, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, and many more. Alloy Entertainment generates unique commercial entertainment franchises and collaborates with authors, leading publishers, television networks, and movie studios to deliver its properties to the world.

Alloy Entertainment produces approximately thirty new books a year, which are published globally in over forty languages. More than eighty of Alloy Entertainment's books have reached the New York Times Best Sellers list. In addition to its commercial success, Alloy's books have received widespread acclaim, including National Book Award finalists, the Lambda Literary Award, the William C. Morris Award, and many more.

Your Role:
• Attend creative and editorial meetings and take notes as needed.
• Explore Alloy's extensive backlist and brainstorm new ways to bring existing content to new markets.
• Assist with various tasks for the editorial team, i.e. reading submissions, writing copy and coverage, and finding comps for new IP.
• Participate in development and assist as needed, i.e. titling books, brainstorming new creative areas, and auditing/note-taking plotting sessions.
• Provide administrative support to editors i.e. printing manuscripts, mailing books, organizing files etc.

Experience:
• Candidates who possess a demonstrated interest in literature or creating and editing books will be prioritized.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Must have a strong command of the written word with high reading comprehension.
• Must be able to maintain discretion and composure when dealing with well-known writers.

Requirements for all Internships:
• Must be actively enrolled in a US accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
• Must be a rising Junior, Senior or Graduate Student (18 years or older)
• Must be in academic good standing (2.8 or above GPA)
• Must have the legal right to work in the United States. US International students must hold an F1 Visa to be considered.

What to know before applying:
• The duration of the summer program regardless of which start/end option is 11 weeks.
• Program date options:
• Option 1: June 3rd – August 16th
• Option 2: June 10th – August 23rd
• Interns will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.
• Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
• Interviewing will take place from February through mid-April. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Rate: $19 per hour USD for undergrad interns, $25 per hour USD for graduate level interns.
