Overview of the internshipsWe have multiple Product Marketing and Design internship opportunities available. By applying to this posting, you will be considered for multiple internship opportunities within this general area. These internships will be located in the DC area. The selected interns will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager ' s in office schedule.

As a Design Systems Intern, you'll contribute to real, production-ready work: supporting component development, documentation, research, and cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and brand partners. • CNN New Business Product Design Intern: DC
• As a Product Design Intern on the New Business team, you'll join a cross‑functional group of product managers, engineers, and designers working to shape entirely new digital product experiences for CNN. You'll contribute to concept development and help bring ideas to life across mobile and web platforms. You'll have the opportunity to create design deliverables across many stages of the product design process-such as user journeys, interaction flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity mockups-while learning how to navigate ambiguity and keep users at the center of evolving product ideas.
• CNN Digital Editorial Product Design Intern: DC
As a Digital Editorial Product Design Intern, you'll design tools that directly support newsroom editors in their daily work-from story planning to publishing. You'll get an inside look at how editors operate and solve real design challenges that help them work more efficiently and effectively. Join a passionate, talented team dedicated to creating products that make a difference in how news reaches the public
Your Role Accountabilities
Duties could include:
• Learn how newsroom editors work day-to-day and design products that streamline their programming workflows
• Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to bring solutions from concept to implementation
• Work cross-functionally with editorial, engineering, and other product teams across the organization
• Gather requirements from editors and stakeholders to deeply understand user problems before proposing design solutions
• Participate in design critiques, user research sessions, and team discussions to refine your work
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that solve real workflow challenges for the newsroom
• Contribute design work within an agile sprint process on a cross‑functional product team focused on developing new, standalone CNN digital products.
• Create deliverables across all stages of the product design process, including user journeys, interaction flow diagrams, wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity mockups for early‑stage product concepts.
• Collaborate directly with the product design team to receive feedback, iterate on your work, and participate in design critiques that help shape emerging product experiences.
• Work closely with key stakeholders-including product managers, engineers, researchers, and editorial partners-to refine ideas, align on goals, and move concepts forward.
• Participate in project meetings, workshops, and collaborative sessions that influence product direction, while completing design deliverables that support ongoing exploration and experimentation.
Qualifications & Experience
• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in product design, UX/UI design, HCI, interaction design, or a related field.
• Proficiency with Figma for interface design and prototyping.
• Comfort working in iterative cycles and incorporating feedback.
• Strong attention to detail, curiosity, and a desire to learn how design shapes product development
• Understanding of user-centered design and ability to think through user flows and interactions.
• Ability to conduct user interviews, synthesize feedback, and translate insights into design decisions.
• Can articulate design decisions and rationale clearly and comfortable presenting work and receiving feedback
• Able to work in a team environment with non-designers.
• Must be actively enrolled in a n accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required )
• Must be a rising Junior or Senior undergrad or grad student (18 years or older)
• Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA) A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended.
• Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner B ros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.
Nice to Have:
• Familiarity with design systems principles, component libraries, or token-based design
• Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and how designs translate to front-end implementation
• Experience contributing to documentation, case studies, or structured design files
• Exposure to usability testing, research synthesis, or data-informed design
• Interest in media, entertainment, or streaming products
What To Know Before Applying:
• The duration of the summer program regardless of which start/end option is 11 weeks .
• Program date options:
• Option 1: June 1 st – August 1 4 th
• Option 2: June 8 th – August 2 1 st
• Interns will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity
• Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required ; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.
• Interviewing will take place from mid February through early- April . A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.
• On December 5, Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Netflix will acquire Warner Bros., including its film and television studios, HBO Max and HBO. The transaction is expected to close after the separation of Warner Bros. Discovery's Global Networks division, Discovery Global, into a new publicly-traded company, which is expected to be completed in Q3 2026.
