Your New Role...

The WBD UK Commissioning Team is a creative, collaborative, and inclusive department which works with both internal Warner Bros. Discovery teams and external TV production companies to produce a range of content for WBD platforms. The content produced covers a wide range of unscripted television genres from Crime and Medical documentaries to Reality and Factual Entertainment series.

T he team works with a network of external television companies who develop programming ideas and pitch them directly to the commissioning team. If a pitch is successful, the Commissioning Execs work with the producers from the early kick-off and pre-production stages all the way through the process to delivery and broadcast. The team also works with internal WBD departments and stakeholders like Business and Legal Affairs, Production Management, and the Marketing team.               

As a Commissioning Intern, you will support the commissioning team on all development and production needs. You'll also work with the Production Assistant to manage the content slate and development process for the team.  

Your Role Accountabilities...
• Setting up internal and external kick off meetings and supporting the commissioning execs with the materials needed for these important meetings at the very start of the production process. This includes collating/cutting clips, pulling together contact lists, treatments and research.  
• Manage diary for senior team. This involves coordinating internal and external meetings both on Zoom and in person.
• Source material for Team Brainstorm Workshops and Development Meetings.   
• Support the Commissioning Execs with Internal Presentations.
• Continually research market and industry trends to present to the team in a biweekly bulletin.
• General cloud housekeeping support with digital tools like Google Drive, Slides, Outlook and OneDrive.               
• Support the Development AP and Commissioning Execs with research and specific production needs.          
• Engage with stakeholders to manage appointments between senior management and production companies.  
• Work with the team on creative tenders for external presentation.
• Help coordinate and communicate internal process management.  

Qualifications & Experience...
• You must be a recent university graduate, having graduated no earlier than July 2022.  
• Passionate about television with a clear knowledge of WBD UK unscripted content and how it differs from other UK Broadcasters.   
• Clear understanding of what a commissioning team does and how it differs from an external television production.   
• Ability to listen and take notes whilst also taking part in the conversation.  
• Strong communicator with exemplary organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confident with digital presentation tools like PowerPoint, Google Slides and Keynote.
• Strong understanding of social media platforms.   
• Strong creative writing and copy writing skills.   
• Basic knowledge of marketing and why branding is important to a series.
• Open minded, flexible, willing to work to deadlines.
• Be engaged with our Channel Brands and Platforms and committed to developing a career in unscripted television .

The Internship...
• Salary: £27,000
• Contract Length: 12 months
• Start Date: Likely to be 9 th September 2024
