Our Internship Program dives into the craft, technology, and operations behind our animated films while developing your skills and connecting you to industry mentors. Find yourself immersed in hands-on projects and learning guided by our developers, engineers, artists, and production managers. For our 2022 programs, we are committed to providing mentorship and development. Walt Disney Animation Studios' Internship Program provides emerging talent with an immersive view of animation through educational seminars on craft and filmmaking, reinforced by individual and technical projects.

Responsibilities:

The Product Design team at Walt Disney Animation Studios closely collaborates with Engineers, Project Managers, Technical Directors, Artists, and other stakeholders to take on complex workflows and break them down into simple, elegant solutions for users in the Animation studio.

The ideal intern will need strong problem-solving and analytical abilities through independent analysis and judgment to effectively articulate your design rationale visually, orally, and in writing. Critical to success will be the ability to build trust and relationships with technical and non-technical users to understand their needs and deliver relevant solutions leveraging various user-research methodologies, design tools, and prototyping techniques.

Projects Include:
• Building user workflows, user interfaces, and interactions
• Research and design for accessibility

Basic Qualifications:

KEY QUALIFICATIONS/EXPECTATIONS
• Experience with prototyping tools such as Figma or Adobe XD
• Experience building clean interfaces
• Ability to rapidly ideate, product, and test multiple UX/UI concepts and prototypes
• Experience of the scientific method and data analysis
• Ability to collaborate with team members across different disciplines, including directly interfacing with stakeholders to understand requirements
• Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Strong documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
• Currently pursuing a degree or interest in Human-Computer Interaction or Psychology
• Experience in C++ and/or Universal Scene Description (USD)
• Experience with React, Python, and web & mobile design
• Excellent debugging skills
• Interest in animation, film, or games

Required Education

Currently enrolled undergraduate student studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related field at an accredited college/university and returning to school following the internship.

Additional Information:
• At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must provide full work availability
• Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are May/June - August/September 2022. Interns must be fully available for the duration of a 12-week assignment.
• Please note, the safety and well-being of our teams is very important to us. Based on government recommendations, we will determine whether this program will be in-person at our Burbank, CA studio or virtual in the coming months.
