Job Description

Responsibilities
Fall 2022 Internship Program:

• Program Dates: September 19 – December 9, 2022*
• *Some opportunities listed may offer an extended internship experience which will span the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters, from September 2022 – April 2023.
• Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

NBCUniversal Local is NBCUniversal's local media division that delivers English and Spanish-speakers and bilingual audiences in 31 US markets and Puerto Rico, the very best in local sports, news, weather, consumer and investigative reporting, and lifestyle entertainment across any platform and screen. NBCUniversal Local is comprised of three individual media groups including the NBC Owned Television Stations, the NBC Sports Regional Networks and the Telemundo Station Group. NBCUniversal Local's stations and networks serve diverse audiences and communities across linear, streaming, OTT, digital web, mobile and audio, and cable platforms and work together to keep local audiences informed anytime and anywhere.

Better Get Baquero 
Our interns do research, telephone interviews, book shoots, and log video. Our interns work closely with an on-camera reporter and segment producer and will learn how to generate news content as part of a team. 

I-Team 
This is an internship working for New York's Biggest I-Team. We cover a broad range of topics: law enforcement, politics, public health, legislative policy. We dig beneath the surface of the headline to give our viewers a little bit more than the news of the day. 

New York Live 
New York Live is a daily entertainment and lifestyle show highlighting local restaurants and businesses, celebs, Broadway shows, and people making a difference in their communities. We're a small team so we rely on our interns heavily. From assisting producers and talent on field shoots and in the studio to editing segments for the show. 

News Planning 
Find stories, call contacts for details, fact check production and talent schedules, assist during breaking news, shadow reporters and producers in the field/control room, pre-interview guests and more.  Interns often sit on the desk and get pulled into breaking news, answering phones and immersed in the news making process. 

Newsroom 
The Assignment Desk is the heartbeat of the newsroom. We are on top of all the news that's going on for the day and beyond. We make sure that the producers and reporters have the most up to date information and that all our info has been verified. The Assignment Desk is on top of all the breaking news that's reported and we're also responsible for sending the reporters and crews to cover those stories. 

Weather
We believe it is important to foster young weather talent in the broadcast business in order to keep the standards as high as possible. The internship program is an integral part of that process. Responsibilities will include forecast development and entry, learning the process by which meteorologists develop the forecast for the Tri-State Area and entering the information into our weather system, weather graphic creation for optimal storytelling, generating and posting content on the Storm Team 4 Facebook, Instagram, Twitter feeds, and more.

Sales & Marketing 
Our ideal candidate is someone who has some tv, social and/or digital marketing business or research knowledge and/or experience. Projects for this internship will include creating PowerPoint presentations, updating and gathering content for Sales & Marketing portfolio, assisting Account Executives and the marketing team with research, rating reports and assist with event activations. 

Digital 
WNBC Digital is the digital team of NBC New York, the flagship NBC local station. We run a 24/7 digital newsroom supporting a website, an app, OTT channels, social channels and other networks in the NBC family including Telemundo 47/WNJU, with a mixture of text, audio and video products. The intern will be expected to contribute to all of those products, from processing AP stories and writing original copy, to shooting and editing video, to writing and producing podcasts, plus other duties as assigned.

WNJU News
Telemundo 47 / WNJU is NBCUniversal Local's Telemundo station with more than 50 years of service to the Spanish-speaking communities of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Interns will work with producers and assignment desk editors, listen and log press conferences, write a variety of stories, ranging from breaking news, teases and more. Responsibilities also include creating graphics and lower third banners for the newscast, working with video editors and checking videos before going on air to verify they meet our standards and quality levels. The selected intern must be highly fluent in English and Spanish. We are a Spanish-language news outlet, so knowledge of the language is of the utmost importance. 

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the length of the program.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
• If selected for a virtual internship, must be working from a location within the United States during all hours worked.
• If selected for an in-person internship, must be willing to work in the designated city and state as mentioned in the job responsibilities section.

Additional Job Requirements
• Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or must undergo regular COVID-19 testing if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.
• Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.

Desired Characteristics
• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
