Job Description
Sesame Workshop seeks a Legal Intern to work alongside small, tightly-knit team consisting of nine attorneys on a variety of matters including:• digital and consumer products licensing and publishing
• product safety
• events and marketing
• advocacy, philanthropy, and social impact initiatives
• content clearance, production, distribution, and related matters
Please Note:
• Interns will be expected to work 15-20 hours per week for the Winter/Spring 2024 semester
• This is a paid position, with a rate of $25.00 per hour
• Approximate Duration: January 2024 – May 2024. Start and end dates are flexible
• This is a hybrid position. The intern will be expected to come into the office in New York City, subject to their academic schedule, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays
Responsibilities
Under the guidance and supervision of the Sesame Workshop attorneys, the legal intern may:
• Provide support for Sesame's anti-counterfeit program, including managing takedowns, and negotiating and drafting settlement agreements
• Provide support for Sesame's product safety program
• Review and draft varying documents including vendor agreements, third-party correspondences, and licensing agreements
• Provide support for Sesame's domestic and international social impact programming including reviewing and drafting social impact collaboration and grant agreements
• Provide support in responding to internal and external clearance requests for materials including scripts and clips, and tracking company IP
• Draft memoranda on various areas of law
• Prepare contract summaries
• Coordinate projects with pro bono counsel
• Provide research and other assistance on various projects as needed
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited law school in their second or third year.
• Have a strong interest in at least one of the following areas of law: intellectual property, entertainment, corporate, and non-profit law
• Be intellectually curious, flexible, and interested in transactional law
• Have a passion to learn from and contribute to an incredibly active in-house legal team with unique, challenging, and exciting matters.
