Platforms and Communications Internship (Hybrid or Remote)

Corporate Area: Station Services

Status: Internship/Part-Time/Hybrid or Remote

Supervisor Title: Director, Station Communications and Operations

Time Commitment: 30 hours/week, June 2023 – August 2023

Compensation: $15/hour for undergraduate students, $17/hour for graduate students

Position Overview:

The Station Services department is charged with developing system-wide strategic initiatives around fundraising, station leadership and digital capacity; creating a central communication point for stations; fostering collaboration by connecting stations; facilitating knowledge sharing; and strengthening PBS's ability to address member station needs. The Platforms and Communications Intern in Station Services will support the continued quality and reliability of news, resources, and guidance made available to Member Station staff via platforms like the PBS Hub and Planning Portal, as well as monitoring performance and usage of these platforms by our users.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Monitoring new uploads to the Planning Portal to ensure content and permissions are consistent across entry types

• Monitoring new content added to the PBS Hub to ensure adherence to guidelines and best practices

• Monitoring and reporting on analytics for specific Hub/Planning Portal content

• Working with Station Services and affiliated departments to plan, create, and post new content to the PBS Hub

Requirements for success:
• At least 1 year working with a content management system (CMS) like Craft or WordPress

• Experience with Google Analytics preferred but not required

• Experience developing, writing, and editing web content preferred but not required

Skills the Intern may gain:
• Web content developing, writing, and editing

• CMS management

• Inter-departmental collaboration

• An understanding of the Public Media system

• Website analytics reporting
